Not much has happened that I really didn’t expect to happen except for one thing. What I did not expect was what Weather Channel Founder John Coleman had to say about global warming and Al Gore the inventor of the internet…..NOT!!!!! Once you hear what Mr. Coleman had to say I’m sure you will be taken by surprise as well.

John Coleman founder of the Weather Channel and now a weatherman at San Diego’s KUSI posted on his stations website that Al Gore refuses to acknowledge the faulty research on which the idea of global warming is based.

This statement came as the former VP and Nobel Peace Prize winner addressed the Senate Foreign Relations Committee urging law makers to be the leaders on a global climate treaty and to pass a bill placing caps on heat trapping gases.

John Coleman also went on to say that the EPA is on the brink of naming CO2 as a pollutant. He further stated that all of Washington DC seemed to be on the same bandwagon, and that the idea of CO2 being a pollutant is just silliness. Mr. Coleman said that he was sure that there was no scientific basis for any of this CO2 nonsense.

Finally he concluded that Global Warming is just a hoax and it is bad science, and it is the hijacking of public policy. Saying that this is not a joke and it is the greatest scam in history.

It is about time people take off the blinders and see this Global Warming gag for what it really is. All it is is a way for the Government to take more control over the way we live our lives by saying you can’t do this and you can’t do that because you are hurting the planet. All this is is socialist propaganda designed to rule the uneducated far left loons who suffer from INTELLIPHOBIA. (Fear of Intelligent Thought)

There is absolutely no scientific evidence that states unequivocally that we are doing irreparable harm to the planet. There is also no defining scientific data that says the earth is in a warming trend, if anything the opposite appears to be the case. There are over 600 world renowned scientists who support the theory that Global Warming is a hoax and that the planet cools and warms in cycles. Since we have been monitoring the planet for only a short time the hard data still proves this to be apparently true.

That’s all for today my friends except for one brief note. Starting next week and from time to time on occasion I will be having a guest writer on my blog and her name is Joy Burgess. She is a conservative woman and a talented writer and blogger. The reason for this is two fold.

First I think a woman’s perspective on politics is quite unique and you may get something out of what she has to say. Secondly I am starting another blog on entertainment, the arts, literature, music, etc etc etc. As a result unless something totally earth shattering happens in the political arena I will most likely only post three times a week, Monday’s, Wednesday’s, and Friday’s.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and I will be back again next week, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

P.S. Check out Joy’s blog it is on my page and is called American Politics for the Conservative Woman.

Way to go House republicans, every one of you voted against the 819 BILLION DOLLAR stimulus package. I don’t know how you did it but you got 12 Dem’s to vote against it to. I guess there is still some common sense left in Washington after all.

The stimulus package that was put forth by the Obama administration and rammed through the lower house by Speaker Pelosi is supposed to jumpstart the economy and do it fast. The problem is that a lot of what is in the package won’t even start having an effect until after 2010. The stimulus will do very little to help the economy right away, which is when our economy needs it the most.

Most of the funds in the bill for infrastructure are for projects that have not even been planned let alone started yet. There is almost no funding for current projects that are underway that would create the job’s that are needed, which is part of our economic problem right now. Those new jobs that will come from building infrastructure will not show up before the middle of 2010 at the earliest.

The other problem with the just passed stimulus package is that it doesn’t have any significant tax cuts for small business or entrepreneurs who create a significant portion of jobs in the market place, and who invest in their businesses to continue to grow.

With out these small companies, businessmen, and investors out there doing what they are supposed to do unemployment will continue to rise, people will lose their homes, and the small business man will wind up closing the doors of their businesses.

The other problem is that this spending package is filled with more pork than Jimmy Dean sausage. This has turned into a monumental spending wish list by the Democratic Party. I thought that the President said that he would not put forth a bill that contained any pork.

For example there is over 4 BILLION DOLLARS in the bill for groups like ACORN. There is more in the package for special interest groups, but this is just one example. I guess it’s time for Obama and the Dems to pay back their supporters and to do it with our money.

I have to wonder just how easily this 819 BILLION DOLLAR stimulus package will pass the US Senate. I can only hope that the Senate Republicans will stand united and vote against this bill. I also hope that they can sway enough Democrats into voting against it as well. If not then I hope they can filibuster this in to obscurity, because it is a monumental waste of tax payer dollars. Of course the Democrats want to build a monument to their idea of government and on our backs they will do it.

Have a great day my friends and I will be back again soon CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Yesterday saw our fearless Commander in Chief give his fist TV interview since taking office. That he gave a TV interview is not what is remarkable, but what is remarkable is that he gave that interview to Al Arabiya located in the UAE city of Dubai. What he had to say to the viewers of Al Arabiya was for me very interesting to hear.

During this interview he covered a wide range of topics important to the Arab world. He talked for a good bit about the Palestinian Israeli conflict. He also discussed Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan as well. There was also discussion about the Muslim faith and terrorism. The interview was about 30 minutes long and was conducted by Al Arabiya's own Hisham Melhem.

I thought that the interview was very well conducted and the questions were exactly what I would have expected from Melhem considering his primary audience. I also think that I have learned a lot about Obama’s policies with regard to the Middle East from this interview. I must say that I do not disagree with everything that Obama said, but by the same token I am not in complete agreement either.

Israeli / Palestinian conflict:
On the subject of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict I do agree that it is of paramount importance that peace be established in the area post haste. I also agree that if our President is not involved in the peace process it will go no where fast and stall out. I will further agree that Israel is a staunch ally of the US in the region as we are their ally as well. It is very true that George Mitchell who is Obama’s personal envoy to the area is one of a handful of people who does have experience brokering peace deals in the region. Obama also gave brief mention to the peace plan proposed by Saudi Ruler King Abdullah.

What I do not agree with is the Presidents assumption that we respond to things over there by dictating rather than listening. We can no more dictate Israel’s policy towards how they deal with Terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah than they can dictate ours with regards to Al Qaeda. For there to be peace between the Israeli’s and the Palestinians they both have to want it. Right now Hamas doesn’t seem to want peace and Israel has the right to defend itself and we have no right to interfere.

A Nuclear Iran:
Another question put forth by Mr. Melhem was our willingness to deal with a nuclear Iran. While I might agree with our President, that we should keep all options on the table when dealing with Iran which includes negotiation, diplomacy, and military intervention. I will also agree with the President that the people of Persia are a great people historically.

I do not agree with his unwillingness to say point blank that a nuclear Iran is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Especially, since they support terrorist organizations and the possibility that their nukes could wind up in those organizations hands. This along with their threats against the existence of Israel should be more than enough to say that we would not allow nukes in Iran.

Proof of Commitment to the Muslim World:
On the subject of proving his commitment to the Muslim world and to peace within the region he points at three key elements as his proof. One of these is his idea of a timely and safe withdrawal of our military forces in Iraq and the other is the closing of the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility by years end.

I do agree with the President that it is time to consider an exit strategy for Iraq. As the Iraqi people become more capable of defending themselves as a nation both from within and without we should start removing our forces from the country and putting them where they can best be used. However I do not believe that we will be entirely out of Iraq for at least a couple of more years regardless of what Obama has promised.

As far as the closing of Gitmo I think that this is a big mistake. We should not close this facility just because of pressure from the international community. We have no business bringing those animals from Gitmo to our shores let alone giving them the rights that only US citizens are entitled to under our constitution. This will not impress the terrorists in any event and might embolden them more to try something against us here by attempting to infiltrate our shores even in the guise of prisoners. As for the average Joe on the Muslim street they probably didn’t even know Gitmo existed until we made a big deal out of it.

I really do think that the third part of his proof is a good idea though. I think his idea to address the Muslim world from a major Muslim capitol in the region within the first 100 days of his presidency is an excellent idea to help promote solidarity between the US and the Muslim world.

Terrorists and Terrorism:
I think he is right to say that we will go after the terrorists when and where we can. I will further agree that these animals cannot point to one single accomplishment of theirs and say that they have improved the lives of the people they say they are fighting for. I believe that our President realizes that we cannot afford to have another attack like 9/11 on his watch. He is right to say that he will be judged by his actions and the actions of his administration.

I do not agree with his statement that the terminology that has been used to describe these people is wrong, they are Islamic Fascists. I do not agree with the notion that calling what we are involved in is a War on Terror. That is exactly what it is. We are not fighting an organized governmental military we are fighting cowards who hide behind helpless people and use terror to control them and to scare us.

In closing I can only deduce that while things may get better in the Middle East it will not happen for some time. As for what Barack Obama may have accomplished with this interview, well that is anybody’s guess. I just hope that the terrorists got the message that they have not been forgotten. I also hope that Barack will not be so quick the next time to apologize for how we Americans react to threats from rogue nations, dictators, and terrorist scum. I also would wish that Obama would fear the threats to our nation’s security more than public opinion and our lack of popularity around the world.

I am sorry this post is so long but I hope you have enjoyed this post and got a little something out of it. Have a beautiful day my friends, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Well my friends it seems to me that the Dem’s can’t stop shooting themselves in the foot. Talk about the GOP being disorganized, leaderless, and powerless to do anything, well the Dems are doing all of that to themselves, and the hits just keep on coming. This time it is Nancy Pelosi providing the Ammo.

First you got the number three in line to the throne of our great nation Nancy Pelosi. She told Stephanopoulos in an interview that her plan to put millions of dollars into the stimulus plan for family planning services (Abortions) would help financially strapped states and that it would help to stimulate the economy. Of course Stephanopoulos didn’t press the speaker for any details as to how she came to her deduction. Is this woman really that stupid or did she have to practice to be so good at it.

As I predicted she also shot down the idea of using Alcatraz as a facility to house the Gitmo detainees, no surprise there though. Much to her chagrin the idea won’t go away either thanks to House Minority Leader John Boehner. He has brought up the idea on NBC’s Meet the Press stating that “if liberals believe they ought to go maybe we ought to open Alcatraz”. Speaker Pelosi says the idea is not a serious proposal because that the island is now a national park. However the Rock has served as a military installation, prison, and a federal prison and is more than suited to the task.

Of course the best piece of ammo here for the GOP is definitely the idea of family planning funds in the stimulus package. I think they should attack this with gusto. However I personally believe that the stimulus will not carry any funds for this because of the firestorm of controversy sparked by Speaker Pelosi’s comments.

As for more ammo for the right they can take comfort in the fact that since the inauguration of the anointed one Barack Hussein Obama his personal approval rating has dropped from about 82% to approximately 62% as of this past Monday. So much for the spirit of bi-partisanship, I guess the good times are already over for Camelot.

I can’t wait to see what happens next. Have a great day my friends and I will be back again real soon, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Last Friday Barack did exactly what we all expected him to do. He took a giant step towards moving our government in to a pro choice position. What Obama did was he lifted the ban on federal funding for international groups that promote or perform abortions. He did this just one day after the 36th anniversary of the landmark Roe v, Wade US Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion in all 50 states.

Now this particular policy known as The Mexico City Policy was instituted by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. Both Bush 41 and Bush 43 supported the policy in their administrations while Bill Clinton chose to lift the ban during his administration. However it came as no surprise and was even expected that Obama would lift this ban as well.

The Mexico City Policy required groups, agencies, and organizations abroad to agree not to perform abortions or actively promote abortion as a method of family planning in other nations In order to receive federal funds. Also known as the “Global Gag Rule” it prohibits any tax payer funding for groups, agencies, or organizations that even bring up abortion if there is an unplanned pregnancy.

I personally think that it is outrageous that we as a nation would fund anyone in the abortion business abroad let alone here in the US. Obama has even stated at the Saddleback Church Q & A with Pastor Rick Warren that it was his intention to see the number of abortions performed here in the states decreased, yet now he is doing everything in his power to promote the genocidal agenda of abortion overseas. It will only be a matter of time before he makes a more concerted effort here. I thank god we have a US Supreme Court that will not allow it.

Since our birth as a nation we have seen mass murders, genocides, and holocausts committed by governments like the Japanese, the Germans, and the Serbians right up to today’s genocides in Rwanda and Darfur. We are talking about millions of people being exterminated simply because they are different or believe different from the people who have wiped them out. Yet more babies have been killed in the womb or by methods like partial birth abortion than all of those other people combined, simply because they were unwanted babies. Now if that is not genocide or a holocaust I don’t know what is.

Now I understand that the pro life/pro choice debate is a hotly contested and emotional issue for virtually everyone, but I cannot in good conscience allow this subject go unquestioned or without discussion. It is obvious where I stand on this issue, but I understand that each person needs to decide where they stand and what they believe a well. I just think that before you make up your mind where you stand on the funding as well as the larger issue of abortion itself, you should look at the facts and take some time to think about it seriously.

That is all I have to say for today except for one final thought. If you asked all the people who have fought, and died for this country’s survival, morals, and values what they fought for and died for. I wonder how many of these heroic warriors do you think would say that they fought for abortion rights to kill our own unborn babies. I bet not one of them from the revolutionary war to the conflicts now raging in the Middle East would say they did so for abortion rights, and that they would be angered and ashamed if that were even implied.

I hope I have not offended anyone as that was not my intent. I only want you all to think about some of the issues I write about, because they are important. They not only tell the world about who we are as individuals but as a nation also. Have a great day and I will see you all again very soon, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Well its official folks, our brand new President has signed an executive order to close down the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility that currently houses the illegal enemy combatants that we have captured in our war on terror. He also signed a couple of other executive orders pertaining to national security but this is the one the worries me the most, because some of the people there were involved in the 9/11 attacks while others were trying to kill US citizens and soldiers.

I guess it was inevitable the Obama would ultimately cave in to international pressure and the UN in an effort to become popular with the international community. I can only hope that he has given some serious thought as to where we are going to put these terrorists while we figure out how to try them for their crimes. These people are definitely a danger to American lives, especially if they are brought to the continental US to be held while awaiting the outcome in their cases.

Personally I believe that we should send these animals back to whatever countries they come from. Unfortunately for them and fortunately for us most of them would be executed on the spot if they were to be returned to their home countries. However being the great humanitarians that we are even with those who have attacked us, we won’t do that, although I personally don’t care what happens to those animals, because the only good terrorist is a dead terrorist. Besides, what good are they to us if we can’t get any intelligence out of them?

If we do have to house them in an alternate location I like an idea that I thought of and have heard mentioned a couple of times after I thought of it. I think we should reopen Alcatraz Island Penitentiary in San Francisco Bay. I am sure that Nancy Pelosi being the great humanitarian that she is would have no problems with having 250 plus terrorists in her own backyard. Since Alcatraz is a federal penitentiary I see no problem with holding them there with a few 21st century technological modifications and a strong military presence on the island.

Just to prove that most of those who are held in Guantanamo are dangerous to us. There is currently a report of a former prisoner of Gitmo who was released back to Saudi Arabia his home country has since found his way to Yemen and has become the number two man in Al Qaeda there. His name is Said Ali al-Shihri and his prison number was 372. I guess we did a lousy job of rehabilitating this poor misunderstood man. Yeah right, a dog by any other name is still a dog and this one is rabid.

That’s all for today my friends I will see you all next week unless something else comes up that makes my blood boil. Have a wonderful weekend, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

After the most expensive Presidential inauguration in US history, yesterday saw some extraordinary activity during Obama’s first full day in the oval office as the 44th President of the United States. This was by no means a big surprise to those of us who follow politics religiously no matter what party we are members of, although in my case I am a member of no political party THANK GOD!!!!!

The way one party screwed up by ignoring its party’s core values and losing an election, and the way the other one ran on its opposition party’s platforms and got away with winning an election on lies, deceit, and half truths, I would be ashamed to call myself a Republican or Democrat. The worst thing about all of this is that the Republicans really feel like the Democrats want to work with them on key issues and the Republicans feel like they should support the Democrats so that they won’t seem like obstructionists to the American people and become unpopular. They Republicans should face the facts, they are already unpopular, and the Democrats have absolutely no intention of working across the aisle with them on any legislation.

Like the saying goes a democracy will get the government it deserves, and since the supposed majority of the people and the electoral college have elected this new administration I can say with much regret that they old saying appears to be true. When you consider the incoming administration policies and the people appointed and nominated to run our country the next four years, we as a nation are in even worse trouble than we were under the Bush Administration.

In the next four years we are going to see Guantanamo closed, and those terrorists brought into our homeland and given all the rights of the US citizens they are trying to kill. We are going to see the great lie of global warming given credibility. We are going to see even more bailouts, larger stimulus packages, unfettered printing of dollars, and as a result the devaluation of the dollar, which will further weaken our economy and national security. We will also see absolutely no credible movement in an effort to make us independent from foreign oil or to become energy independent and more eco friendly.

All of this will not come to pass because of a tax evader running the US treasury, a socialist becoming the Global Warming Czar, an incompetent becoming the DHS, and an inexperienced man running the finest intelligence agency in the world the CIA. These things will certainly come to pass simply because the President will not listen to those few people he has kept, appointed, or nominated that have experience in those fields that he should trust.

Not to mention the fact that since his inauguration people like Hugo Chaves, Fidel Castro, some Middle East extremists, and others of that ilk have come out in support of Barack Obama. I will tell you that this being the case really scares me the most because that means not only do they not respect our new President, but they don’t fear him either and that should be a cause for grave concern by anyone who loves this country.

That’s all I have to say for now folks, I am going to go and have a stiff drink or two and await the next volley of rounds fired at us in the political arena. Have a wonderful day I will be back soon, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Well folks, today is the day we inaugurate our 44th President Mr. Barack Hussein, Obama. This is definitely an historical event after all he is our first black President. When I was born and growing up absolutely no one I knew even remotely thought it would have been possible to elect a black man or woman as President. Yet here we are almost 46 years after my birth and now it is going to happen. I believe that in some respects our country has come a long way since the birth of this nation only a short time ago.

However he comes along at a time when our country is in great turmoil with the economy in shambles, over a trillion dollars in debt, and heading for another trillion dollars in bailouts to several industries. Not to mention the two wars that we are currently fighting in the Middle East. Last but not least there are the two wars we are waging here at home on both energy independence and illegal immigration. To exercise my talent for understatement I would say he has a lot on his plate.

I think to help him out with some of his problems he has made some good choices in who he has appointed and nominated to fill key posts in his administration. I was very surprised and impressed that he had the foresight to keep Secretary of Defense Bob Gates at the post even though he is a Republican and Bush appointee. I also liked his choice of retired General James Jones USMC as his National Security Advisor. Retired Admiral Dennis Blair as the National Intelligence director is another good choice I think Obama made. All three of these gentlemen are extremely capable and talented men in the fields of intelligence and national security.

On the other side of his picks I think he made some critical errors in appointments and nominations. Of these I think that his pick to be the Global Warming Czar Carol Browner is probably the worst one. This woman is a committed socialist and has no business being any where near the White House. By the way what do we need a Global Warming Czar for any way.

Tim Geithner is another bad choice as Secretary of the Treasury. This guy falsifies his tax records and fails to pay his taxes for more than six years on a domestic employee and we are supposed to trust this criminal. If he will lie about his own finances why wouldn’t he lie about the taxpayers finances? He should be prosecuted just like any one of us on Main Street would be.

Former Governor of the State of Arizona Janet Napolitano is not even a good lesser of two evils choice for the Director of Homeland Security. As a resident of her state I can tell you that she has never done one solitary thing to secure our borders or to defend the citizens of Arizona. All she has ever done is thwart the federal government in its efforts to enforce immigration laws and has supported sanctuary cities here. She has also tried to block Maricopa County Sherriff Joe Arpaio in his efforts to combat illegal immigration as well.

The nomination of Leon Panetta to be Director of Central Intelligence is not the best pick either, but the man has had high level security and intel briefings in the past as White House Chief of Staff under President Clinton. He also has a reputation for getting the job done. Answering to Dennis Blair will be good for him to and he may learn something and ultimately become a very capable intelligence figure.

Two final thoughts before I go. Number one I understand that Obama took the same train route that Republican President Abraham Lincoln took on his way to D.C. I think it is a good thing that Obama looks up to and respects a great Republican President. I hope he realizes that he isn’t Lincoln or even his equal. Number two I’m glad that he celebrated Martin Luther King yesterday, because King is man worth remembering and celebrating. However Obama isn’t Dr. King either and he shouldn’t be compared with this historical figure either.

That is it for today my friends. I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday and I will be back again soon, CIAo4NOW!!!!!

P.S. Congratulations Mr. Obama I wish you the best of luck in your new administration, but don’t let us down!!!!!

Today is the day we celebrate a great man the good Reverend and Doctor Martin Luther King born on January 15, 1929 and died April 4, 1968. He was truly a man for those times born into the segregationist policies of the state and federal governments that oppressed blacks in our nation from the time Republican President Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves up until his untimely demise. His people will never have another leader as great as he was and he is still today sorely missed by those of us who are enlightened in our society.

To say he lived an extraordinary life is an understatement to say the least. To say that he is a civil rights icon is just scratching the surface of this mans makeup. From leading the 1955 Bus Boycott in Montgomery Alabama to his I Have a Dream speech in 1963 he has not only been a leader and a teacher to his own people but to all of us as well, whether we are White, Hispanic, Asian, or whatever ethnicity you might care to mention. His was a lesson in love, tolerance, compassion, and equality for your fellow man, and he did not limit those ideals to one race or group of people, he was truly color blind when it came to it.

His most notable achievement was his work in the arena of civil rights and The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was proof of the mans effectiveness as a prominent leader in the movement. The bill was originally introduced by Democratic President John, F Kennedy in his civil rights speech in 1963. Kennedy then sent the bill to congress on June 19, 1963. Although the bill did include some good provisions it did not include all of the provisions deemed necessary by civil rights leaders such as Dr King.

The bill was sent the House of Representatives and referred to the House Judiciary Committee chaired by Democrat Emmanuel Celler of New York. After leaving the House Judiciary Committee it was referred to the Rules Committee chaired by Democrat Howard R Smith of Virginia. However Smith attempted to stall the bill in committee and a discharge petition was considered. Ultimately due to the political skill and use of the bully pulpit by the new President Lyndon B Johnson in his support of the bill it was allowed to pass the House Rules Committee went to the House floor and was passed.

Passage in the Senate was the next hurdle and Johnson made sure the bill would be quickly considered by them. However many Senators like Democrat James O Eastland of Mississippi who chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee opposed the bill, and it didn’t seem likely to pass. Thanks to Senate Majority Leader Democrat Mike Mansfield the bill had a chance because of unique approach to keeping the bill out of the Judiciary Committee.

The bill came before the full Senate for debate on March 30, 1964. The Southern Bloc as it was called was made up of a group of Democratic Senators including Robert Byrd of West Virginia and Richard Russell of Georgia. After 54 days of filibuster by this group of Senators two Republicans Thomas Kuchel of California and Everett Dirksen of Illinois, along with two Democrats Mike Mansfield of Montana and Hubert Humphrey of Minnesota introduced a compromise bill that was finally passed. Ultimately the conference bill was passed by both Houses of Congress.

Dr King and other civil rights leaders played significant roles in the introduction of the idea of civil rights and the ultimate passage of this ground breaking piece of legislation although Dr King along with John Kennedy and L.B.J was obviously the catalyst for the successful passage of the bill. It was too bad that John Kennedy could not be there to see the bill to fruition. There had not been another bill affecting the topic of equality for a race since the Fifteenth Amendment was ratified on February 3, 1870. Not since the Voting Rights Act of 1965 has there been another. However there have been additions to the Civil Rights Act since 1964.

That is all I have for today my friends. I hope you have found this post to be both informative and enlightening. Have a great day, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Hello all my friends I am sorry that was not here yesterday but as you know life happens. However I am here today and I have something to say and something to write about. Today’s post will be short and to the point so if you’re ready here we go.

First I have something to say and that is way to go Sully. Sully is the pilot of the US Airways flight that landed in the Hudson River yesterday. He did an awesome job landing that aircraft after losing both engines to a flock of geese that fouled them. He also did an awesome job of making sure that all of his passengers got out of the aircraft safely before he to exited the plane. The man’s a hero and deserves the thanks of his passengers, crew, and the US people.

Today I am going to write a little bit more about our out going President George W, Bush. I watched his farewell speech on the boob tube. I think he did an excellent job on giving his farewell speech to the people of the United States. He defended his Presidency humbly but vigorously.

He also admitted that there were some things he would have done differently if he could but noted that everything he did he did for the American people. He also cited the fact that we have not had an attack on US soil since 9/11 due largely to the efforts and successes of his administration, congress, and the agencies involved in insuring our protection.

Overall I would have to say that I agreed with him on the things that hew said. I would also say to all of you out there that like him or not he loves his country and the people and did everything possible to protect us and our way of life.

I really do believe that he is an honest and honorable man who understood that the buck stopped at his feet and he was the one who had to make the hard choices. I am very sure that being President of the United States cannot be an easy job. In my view this gentleman is a patriot of our nation.

His detractors, those bush haters who suffer from BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) are salivating at the chance to take one more shot at the man and will do so simply because free speech is a right. They care nothing for the man or the office and have no real sense of right and wrong. These people only feel good about themselves when they can tear another man down, especially one that doesn’t worry about his or anyone else’s popularity. I personally feel sorry for those pitiless creatures.

That is all I have to say for today. I hope you all have a glorious weekend, T.G.I.F. CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Hi folks I thought I would do something a little different with today’s post. I’m not going to do a piece on any political topics today; instead I’m going to make this an FYI post.

I looked at and researched the information that I am going to show you today, including the link at the bottom to the Washington Post where this information was gathered. Unfortunately the Post has since removed the info and the link. At the time of my first look the information was still there.

I will say this though and that is if the Electoral College existed as one state one vote our National Election would look a lot different. The other thing that I found interesting is the statistics in this document I am going to show you. It tells you a lot about the sort of people whose candidate won the election. Look at this yourself and decide what you think and let me know. I will be quite interested in all of your thoughts.

I will be back again tomorrow with something a little more substantive I hope. Have a wonderful day, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

United States of America

40% of population

now government dependent

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2008 Presidential election:

- Number of States won by:

Democrats: 20 Republicans: 30
- Square miles of land won by:

Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000
- Population of counties won by:

Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million
- Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:

Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate the map of the territory...

...Republican won -- mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens.

...Democrats won -- mostly encompassed those citizens living in rented or government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

Of course there are exceptions, but generally the government welfare dependent and under-informed have voted Democrat for years yet they are still government welfare dependent and under-informed.

*******************************

Notice that only in the states of Alaska and Oklahoma :

All counties were won by McCain/Palin.

Today is the confirmation hearing for Senator Hillary R, Clinton to be confirmed as the new Secretary of State. Since I know that she will not have a problem being confirmed and that we will hear all the liberal left rhetoric as well as all of the pre-requisite mutual butt kissing that goes on at this sort of thing with both political party’s I am not going to write about that today. Instead I am going to write about the subject of global warming and climate change.

For many years now I have heard all sorts of bad news with regard to global warming, climate change, and greenhouse gases. Most if not all of this information or should I say misinformation has come from the far left liberal wing of the Democratic Party and those eco terrorists who tell lies about everything from the dangers of off shore drilling and oil exploration to the damage done to our ozone layer and greenhouse gas emissions.

They cite the fact that we have had a couple of years with record breaking heat in the summers. They say that the polar iced cap is melting fast because of global warming. They tell us that greenhouse gas emissions are damaging the ozone layer. They are telling us that humans are leaving to large a carbon footprint on the face of the earth. The last and greatest big lie told by these fear mongers is that we could have a catastrophic climate change in a few years if we don’t change. Now I’ve done some research and quite a lot of it I might add and this is what I have found out.

Global Warming:

With regard to these record breaking heat waves we have experienced over a couple of summers in the last few years. While we have in fact had a couple of summers with above average heat, in the last three years we have experienced two years with above average cold and freezing temperatures. Their experts will tell you that this is further proof that we are experiencing global warming. However more than five hundred prominent scientists have debunked that theory and say that if anything the opposite is true.

Polar Ice Cap:

They say that the fact that the polar ice cap is melting is very indicative of global warming and its dangers to the world. The same scientists who have debunked to theory of planetary temperatures due to heat and clod contributing to global warming have also debunked this one. They tell us that for this to be a sign of danger to the planet oceanographically it would have to result in a rise of water temperatures in the oceans, but the reverse is true the temperatures have actually cooled a couple of degrees.

Greenhouse Gases and the Ozone Layer:

The lefts very own climatologists have suggested that greenhouse gases are responsible for damages to the ozone layer and we are the biggest culprits. According to a group of climatologists and scientists who do agree that greenhouse gases are the reason for damage to the ozone layer tell us that the biggest example of damage to the ozone layer are over the Amazon rain forest, which by the way is the biggest greenhouse in the world. This is obviously not the work of industry or any other man made system.

Carbon Footprints:

The eco activists are very fond of saying that the carbon footprints that we as a society as well as each of us individually have a negative effect on the environment we live in. While this may be true there has been no scientific evidence to date proving that we are doing any serious damage to the worlds eco systems according to several world renowned scientists and a couple of studies on the subject.

Oil Drilling and Exploration:

As far as I can tell the only danger to the ecological well being of the planet where oil exploration, drilling, and transport of petroleum is concerned is in the transport phase of the operations. Once again science has disproved the myth that drilling for oil is bad for the oceans. Science has proven in recent years that there is more dumped into the worlds oceans through natural seepage through the oceans floors than from drilling. The reason being that pressure builds up under the ocean floor and pushes the oil out into the water through seeps or cracks that are caused by the pressure.

Summation:

In summation I have found out that most of the things that these fear mongering ecologists cite as facts are in no way the truth, and have been thoroughly disproven by both men and women of science at least as reputable as their own. It is basically agreed upon by many of these people that the planetary activities regarding these events are cyclical, and is nature’s way of caring for itself. Considering also the fact that we have only been monitoring the earth and these events for a short time I cannot lend any credibility to these activists’ claims.

I will agree that protecting our natural resources and our environment is not only very important, but in some cases is a matter of national security. I will further agree that there are things that we can and should do to help protect our environment as well. However I will not for one solitary minute allow the lies being told about this topic to go unanswered.

The simple truth is that we as a nation and the world as a whole have grown into an immense population and the more of us there are the more there are going to be causal effects to our planet. That does not mean that we are all going to suffer from intense heat, extreme cold, and exposure to toxic gases and the entire race of man will pass into extinction. What it does mean is that we need to be very careful how we treat Mother Nature because she does provide for all of our needs.

Have a terrific Tuesday my friends and I will see you all again soon, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Well folk’s today was the last press conference given by President George W. Bush in the White House press room. It was a fairly sober affair, with President Bush taking questions from the press in an un-rehearsed and personal manner.

Most of the questions were questions that everyone always seemed to want answers to, but were never satisfied when they got the answers they asked for, so the press trotted them out again one more time. However there were a couple of new questions asked, although I’m not sure that they will be satisfied with those answers either.

The President was very direct in response to questions about what challenges President Elect Barack Obama will be facing when he takes office on January 20, 2009. He said that the criticism Obama will face is diminished in light of the “profound” nature of the job.

He said "he's going to have to do what he thinks is right. And if you don't, I don't see how you can live with yourself. I don't see how I can get back home in Texas and look in the mirror and be proud of what I see if I allowed the loud voices, the loud critics, to -- to prevent me from doing what I thought was necessary to protect this country".

"On the other hand, the job is so exciting and the position so profound that the disappointments will be clearly a minority irritant," the president added.

The President went on to discuss the threats to the nation and the serious enemies that Obama will face who want to inflict damage on us, such as Al Qaeda. He warned that the most urgent threat that Obama would have to deal with is an attack on our homeland. He also named Iran and North Korea as the other major threats that will have to be dealt with during Obama’s first term.

He talked at length about the economy and the seriousness of that issue saying that he had inherited an economy in recession when he first took office and was leaving with a recession that occurred during his Presidency. He did go on to say that while in office the US had experienced approximately 52 months of the most explosive economic growth in American history. On the subject of our current economic crisis he did admit to going against his political ideological belief that the free market economy will fix things, by coming up with bailouts. On this decision I believe him wrong.

Fielding questions about what he thought were mistakes made during his Presidency, he said that putting Mission Accomplished on an aircraft carrier was one adding that the message he was trying to send was one different than what it was interpreted to mean. The failure to find the WMD’s that we know Saddam Hussein had and Abu Ghraib were other mistakes that he regretted, but he didn’t dwell to long on the subject.

He said that with regard to the decisions he made to protect our homeland he wouldn’t worry about popularity. He said he would worry about the US constitution and putting plans in place that would make it easier to find out what the enemy is thinking.

Bush also voiced concern on what is currently happening in the Israeli/Hamas conflict in Gaza saying he would like to see an end to the violence and suffering by the time he leaves office, but put the responsibility squarely on the shoulders of Hamas by stating that they need to stop the rocket attacks on southern Israel, and only then can there be a substantial cease fire. He also said that Egypt will need to do its part to stem the flow of supplies and munitions to the terrorist organization through tunnels leading from Egypt to the Palestinian territories.

On the question of the damage done to the moral integrity of our nation he stated that our moral integrity is intact. If it has been damaged at all it is only amongst some of the elite. But that people still understand that America stands for freedom, that America is a country that provides such great hope.

He also discussed the Kyoto Treaty, education reform, social security, border security, and The Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility. On all of these positions he stood by the decisions he has made in their regard and said that he would not have dealt with tem any differently.

Overall I think that President Bush’s press conference was informative and enlightening. I agree with him that history will judge him on whether he was a good president and whether the decisions that he made were good ones and good for the country. I personally think that he did what he thought was best for us as a nation and right or wrong, he as taken responsibility for those decisions. Has he made mistakes, well sure he has, but he has also kept us safe. The proof is the fact that we have not had a successful attack on our homeland since 09-11-2001.

With all of the things that he heard him speak about today and his answers to the questions posed to him by the White House Press Corps, I can only say that I am glad I voted for him twice and that it was the right decision for me. I am also greatly relieved that he said he would not be an armchair quarterback on the Obama Presidency. I think it is time for him to take his place as one of the greatest and certainly one of the most controversial Presidents in our short 200+ year history, and let history judge him. He is definitely a man of integrity.

Have a great day all of my friends and I will see you all again soon, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Politics In Review

Well folks its Friday, which means we all have survived another week of the Grind so T.G.I.F. This week has seen some important political decisions made both here and around the world. So today this blog is just going to recap what I think are the important topics that have seen some action.

Obama stimulus Package and Congressional Response:
Yesterday Obama publicly addressed the subject of his economic stimulus package citing dire consequences if we don’t get it passed as soon as he takes office. He really didn’t really go into specifics about most of his economic plan though. Apparently the Dems on the hill were listening to what little details he did give away, and they do not appear to be very happy with him about some of his tax cuts, stating those feelings publicly. I think they are worried they won’t have enough of our money to spend if they don’t tax us to death even more.

UN Ceasefire Resolution and outcome:
A couple of day ago the UN Security Council voted on a cease fire resolution for Israel and Hamas, Which the US abstained from voting for or against, and which Israel and Hamas soundly rejected. This was something that I was not surprised by, since I believe that as long as Hamas exists there will be no peace in the Palestinian territories.

Burris appointment and likely outcome:
Early this week after the Senate refused to seat Roland Burris who was appointed by embattled Governor Rod Blagojevich of Illinois to fill Obama’s vacant Senate seat because the Illinois Secretary of State didn’t certify Blago’s signature, filed suit in the Illinois State Supreme Court to get a judgment ordering the Secretary of state to do so. It looks like there may be a response from the court sometime today or early next week, and Burris will be seated. I personally think the signature should have been certified when Blago made the appointment, and Burris seated immediately.

Blago impeachment:
Today the Illinois House of Representatives impeached Governor Blagojevich. However the Illinois State Senate will not meet on this subject until after the Presidential inauguration, so Illinois is stuck with Blago for a couple of more weeks.

Obama appointments:
Also today Obama announced the last three picks for his National Security team. He appointed former Admiral Blair to fill the post of National Intelligence director, which I think is a very good pick. Admiral Blair has excellent credentials in the intelligence community.

Obama also appointed Leon Panetta to the post of CIA Director, an appointment I am not to sure about. While Panetta did have access to high level Intel briefings during his stint as White House Chief of staff under Bill Clinton, he has no practical experience within the Intel community.

Obama rounded out his national security and intelligence picks by appointing National Counterterrorism Center Director John Brennan to be his top terrorism advisor on the National Security Council. I think this is definitely the right man for the job.

Palin Response to Caroline Kennedy Seeking Vacant Clinton Senate Seat:
Apparently Alaska Governor and former Republican VP Candidate Sarah Palin feel’s that Caroline Kennedy is getting softer press treatment in her pursuit of Hillary Clintons now vacant New York Senate Seat than she did in her GOP run for VP in the 2008 national election, due to Kennedy’s social class. How can Palin be so surprised I’m not the Democratic Party is built on elitist class distinctions, at least on the east coast.

Well that’s all of it for this week my friends I hope it is enough to keep you thinking for the weekend. I will be back next week with more political news and analysis for all of you. Until then have a wonderful weekend, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Today President Elect Barack Obama touted his new economic stimulus package to the nation on television. He said that without this stimulus package there could be dire consequences to our economy, as if our economy is not facing dire consequences already.

The proposed 800 billion dollar stimulus plan is his answer to a failing economy. This plan includes everything from improvements to the infrastructure, to tax cuts for the people. He says the plan will put more people to work on the infrastructure side of the plan, while the tax cuts will put much needed cash into individual’s pockets to spend, which in turn will give the economy a boost, there by getting us out of a recession.

According to the latest numbers though the last economic stimulus package didn’t do what it was intended to do, which is stimulate the economy. Tax payers got their stimulus checks and instead of going out and buying flat screen TV’s and other luxury retail items they put the money in their savings accounts.

Add to that the fact that our bailouts of Wall Street, financial institutions, the auto industry, and everyone’s favorite insurance company AIG, which by the way still hasn’t worked and all we have succeeded in doing is adding another 1.5 trillion dollars to the national debt. That now puts our total national debt at about 10 trillion dollars approximately.

Obama is not only in a bad position having to come into his Presidency telling everybody that it is going to get worse before it gets better, but he is going to add another 800 billion dollars in debt in the first year. He says all of this while laying the blame at President Bush’s doorstep for the debt incurred from the last round of bailouts and stimulus, how ludicrous is that? These bailouts and stimulus plans were exactly what Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid wanted.

The reason we had to bailout those businesses anyway was because there was not enough oversight from the senators and congressmen responsible for keeping an eye on those banks and mortgage companies. Instead of enforcing the regulations these politicians encouraged these companies to do bad business. Most notable are Senator Chris Dodd and Congressman Barney Frank.

By the way 800 billion dollars may not be a correct figure either. Economists predict that Obama’s stimulus package may actually be closer to 1.5 trillion dollars. They also say that he may have to go to the well for more money again to. How much debt are the taxpayers supposed to be responsible for? The US government cannot continue borrowing money to fix this problem, because sooner or later the countries who loan us the money will stop over worries that we cannot afford to pay it back, even if the fed raises interest rates as an incentive for them to loan us the money.

The only way for us to get out of this recession is for the government to get the housing market straightened out. Without the housing market turning around our economy will not right itself. We should also let the companies that cannot compete in the market place to go into bankruptcy and reorganize or dissolve; the taxpayer should not become business partners in bad businesses. The last thing they should do is to raise taxes. You do not ever raise taxes on anyone in a recession, especially on those who create jobs.

All I can say to you is to just think about this, look at the numbers, and do a little research and you will see I’m right. After all how can I and a few hundred world renowned economists be wrong. Not only is it simple math but simple politics to.

That is all I have to say on this subject for today. Have a good day and I will be back again soon, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Good day my friends and welcome to the second post of Simple Man politics in the New Year. I don’t plan to write a monster blog like Monday’s so you won’t have to worry about falling asleep while reading this one. I just want to touch quickly on the Senate seat issue with regard to Roland Burris the gentleman appointed by Rod Blagojevich to fill the Obama seat, and the WEENIE Al Franken / Coleman situation in Minnesota.

First off let’s discuss this whole Roland Burris thing in Illinois. Governor Blagojevich appointed Roland Burris to fill Obama’s vacant senate seat, this is his responsibility. While Blago himself may be mired in a criminal investigation not only has he not even been indicted, but he is still the Governor of the state of Illinois.

However it appears that the Secretary of State for Illinois has not signed the documents required from his office to certify Blago’s appointment. Apparently he is supposed to do this after the Governor makes the appointment, and does not have the right to withhold his signature, but decided not to because he didn’t think it the right thing to do. However, he has forgotten that his authority does not supersede the authority of the sitting Governor.

The bad thing is is that Burris is actually qualified to take the seat having served in public office for many years, including as the Illinois Attorney General. Burris was also not named as one of the people being discussed as a possible purchaser of the seat, or as an appointee that would be acceptable to the Obama camp. However when he reported to the capitol to sworn in as the junior Senator from the state of Illinois They refused to swear him in and seat him. Even Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein of California said that Burris should have been sworn and seated.

On the other hand every democratic senator is more than willing to seat that political moron Al Franken, who by the way has no experience in the political arena what so ever. It doesn’t matter that there are still 600 absentee ballots in question in the state of Minnesota, or that the election board decided to go with election night count data rather than with recount data because it favors Franken.

Then there is also the fact that the incumbent Norm Coleman has per state law made his court filings too challenge the board’s decision and to have the absentee ballots counted. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says that Norm Coleman will never be seated. If the state of Minnesota decides he has won and certifies him, then Dingy Harry has no right not to seat him. I thought every voter has a right to vote and be counted so why challenge these 600 if that is true.

I guess the Dems are just doing what they always do, throw the principled man under the bus and support the far left lunatic because that is who runs that party now. I just can’t figure out the two major political party’s in this country, which is why I’m glad to say I have no party affiliations with any of these idiots.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, and I will be back again soon, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Happy New Year my friends, I hope you have all had a good time over the holidays, I know that I have. Now I am back, rested, rejuvenated, and ready to jump right into the New Year.

There are a lot of things going on in the political arena right now that I can talk about, especially when we are just 15 days out from the inauguration of the first black American President. However that’s not the type of politics I want to talk about today. Today I am going to take a look at the situation in Israel and their attempt to seriously curb the aggression of Hamas from within the Gaza strip in Palestine.

Over time Israel has had many cease fire agreements with this very militant terrorist organization, all of which have been broken by Hamas. They use these cease fire agreements to re-arm, recruit, and dig in as deep as possible into the civilian populations where they are active. Once they have reorganized to the best of their ability they violate the cease fire agreement they made with Israel and attack the civilian population within Israel.

They used to use suicide bombers for the majority of those attacks against the Jewish state. Now they favor the tactic of launching rockets into Israel against targets like schools, synagogues, and public market places placing the civilian populations of the towns near the border with Palestine at great risk. As a result of these rocket attacks many Jewish and Arab residents within Israel have been killed and many more wounded.

As inevitably always happens Israel eventually loses its patience with the Hamas terrorist organization and retaliates, usually to the great dismay of the Palestinian population who suffers greatly as a result of the Israeli military response to the naked aggression of Hamas and its military wing. The Palestinian people suffer because Hamas uses them as shields to hide behind. They manufacture weapons, store those weapons, and attack Israel from within the Palestinian communities along the border effectively putting innocent men, women, and children directly between themselves and harms way.

Of course while Hamas attacks Israel there is never an international outcry of support for the Israeli people facing these cowardly terrorist attacks. However when Israel finally decides that they have been hit hard enough and have lost too many people to these cowardly terrorists and retaliate the international community comes out and attacks Israel on all sides condemning them and claiming that their attempts to defend themselves are criminal because the Palestinian people suffer. Would not the same be true of the Israeli people who suffer and die as a result of the wanton, brutal, hateful, and random attacks upon them by Hamas?

The world screams at us the United States of America telling us we should tell the Israeli people to stop defending themselves from these terrorists who hide behind innocents a lot of the time with their support. They say that places like mosques, schools, and hospitals should not be targeted by Israel, but those are the places where these terrorists hide, attack from, and store their arms. Of course any Arab country will tell you that these same places are legitimate targets in Israel although Israel does not use them for any military organization or actions against their enemies.

Here is a little bit of a history lesson for you all. Israel became a nation in 1945. It became recognized by the League of Nations in 1949. At the time they became a nation they offered the same rights to all people living within their borders whether they were Jewish, Muslim, or Christian. They were not interested in keeping anyone of any faith on their knees.

Here are some facts on Israel’s military capacity using the US in comparison. The US field’s 16 division’s world wide, while the Israelis field 16 divisions, within their own nation. The US combined air forces can fly approximately 350 air sorties a day world wide, while the Israeli air forces can fly approximately 600 sorties a day within their own region. The US is a nuclear power world wide, while the Israeli people are a nuclear power within their own region.

All this information tells me that while the US is the reigning superpower world wide the Israeli people are the reigning superpower in the Middle East. We can no more tell the Israelis to stop defending themselves than they can tell us to stop defending ourselves. As far as the Israeli people are concerned I think that they have been more than patient with the Palestinian people, and their government. If the Palestinian President Abbas and his security forces cannot control Hamas and stop their attacks against Israel, then I feel that it is up to Israel to do the job. I just wish that Israel had handed Hezbollah the terrorist organization that now controls Lebanon as harsh a beating as they are currently giving Hamas when that little war happened a couple of years ago.

I think that President Bush is correct by saying that we support Israel’s right to defend themselves even though we don’t like the violence. Violence doesn’t do anything good for the average guy who is just trying to take care of his family. However don’t be so naïve as to think that war doesn’t solve any disputes. War has settled every major dispute in the world since before the time of Christ.

That is all I have to say on this subject for now. I hope that you will read this and think very hard about what I have said here. The same thing that the international community wants Israel to do, which is stop defending themselves, is the same thing that they want us to do to.

I am including a video with this post called Escape From Hamas. It is a 6 part interview on Fox News that has been released to YouTube. The interviewee is a young man by the name of Mosab Hassan Yousef. He is the son of the founder of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. He himself was a leader of the Islamic Youth Organization. He has since moved to the US, become a Christian, and has applied for political asylum here. What he has to say paints a very startling picture of Hamas, so please watch all 6 parts.

I hope you all have a marvelous Monday and I will be back again soon with more political coverage both here and around the world, CIAO4NOW!!!!!
