Welcome back to Simple Man Politics today my friends. Today I want to talk a little bit about that great lie known as Global Warming or Climate Change. My timing is appropriate on this subject considering that our President is in Copenhagen right now to discuss this subject and seems more than willing to give in to their demands. This scares me considerable because they plan to hold the United States solely responsible and force us to pay a considerable sum of tax payer money to support the Global Warming/Climate Change lie.

There has recently been some illumination on the subject of the climate and the lack of real scientific evidence to back it up. Climate gate is on such truth that has recently surfaced that contradicts the science of Global Warming. It appears that some emails and documents from the Climate research Unit at the University of East Anglia have surfaced that exposes a very political scientific group. These are the same people whose research is the foundation that the Copenhagen conference is based upon.

It appears that this group destroyed records, documents, and other data that hid scientific evidence that global temperatures are in decline. These very same people also have attempted to silence their peers who have views that are in opposition to their own. These documents were also found to contain information that showed that the CRU crowd could not even reach a consensus on the subject of Climate Change. Many scientists also had serious doubts as to the accuracy of the models used to estimate temperatures just a century ago.

Then of course there is the Al Gore blunder from his appearance at the Copenhagen summit as well. It seems that during Al Gores speech he claimed that the Arctic could be totally ice free within five years. This by itself is an absurd claim, but Al Gore went even further by claiming that the numbers he mentioned were not only fresh but suggested that some of the models used to make this prediction were verified by Dr. Wieslav Maslowski who said that there was a 75% chance of this happening. A claim the good doctor denied when approached by reporters in Copenhagen while attending the Gore speech.

Luckily for the American tax payer it appears that a lot of the key elements of the deal that they attempting to make are unraveling right before their eyes. It is also a good thing that a lot of representatives from developing nations have walked out on the summit leaving the possibility of any deal being reached unlikely. Still the loony, leftist, socialist fringe who is still in attendance at the moment will try very hard to push their agenda, which is the complete subjugation of the United States to their will using Climate Change as the cudgel to beat us with.

One more thing before you consider lending any support for President Obama on this and his own Climate Change agenda. You should consider what it is that he gets out of any of this. We already know that Al Gore is a liar and only wants the money he and his company will make in the wake of legitimizing the hoax known as Global Warming. The same is true for those in the scientific community who have been perpetuating this lie. I just wonder what our esteemed Commander in Grief will wind up with.

As of 8:00pm Eastern Time our nation is one step closer to committing economic suicide and our promised new socialist society as promised by our failing Commander-in-Grief and his politburo in both houses of congress. The democrat controlled lower house passed it s version of Obamacare a few days ago and now the democrat controlled senate has passed by a vote of 60 to 30 a cloture vote right along party lines.

While most of the democratic senators involved will tell you that this vote is just a procedure designed to move Obamacare into the senate for a full senate debate it is actually more than that. What this vote is, is one more step closer to making Obamacare a reality even though the majority of the American people don’t want it in any form. However it is what Obama wants and his partners-in-crime that run both houses of congress will commit political suicide to give it to him.

Unfortunately senate majority leader Harry Reid still has a problem within his own party that may cause Obamacare to ultimatlely fail anyway. Three of his senators and I believe they were the last three to give their votes to Harry Reid to pass cloture have all said that it doesn’t mean they will support the bill in the final vote. Their reason for not supporting the bill is a public option in any form.

Senators Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, and Ben Nelson are the Democratic Party senators who will oppose the bill if there is a public option. Without any one of their votes for the bill Harry Reid will not be able to pass the healthcare bill, which would be a stunning defeat for both Harry Reid and President Obama. Still other democrats are worried about the costs, cuts and taxes in the bill as well.

The other thing that democrats are worried about is the political fallout and backlash that they may receive from their constituents in the 2010 mid-term elections if their terms are up at that time. They have very legitimate concerns in this regard too because virtually any poll you look at from the Quinnipiac to Rasmussen says that the majority of American tax-payer and voters are seriously opposed to this healthcare bill.

I am not going to sit here and tell you all that I think some sort of healthcare reform is not necessary because I think that it is. However I will tell you that higher taxes, bigger government, and one to two trillion dollars in cost over the next 10 years are not the answer. Raising taxes on an already overtaxed citizenry is an un-recoverable disaster waiting to happen and so are the drastic cuts to medicare being talked about right now.

I think removing the anti-trust exemption for insurance companies and make it possible for people to cross state lines to purchase insurance are two good ideas. Trying to strengthen already existing programs like medicare and Medicaid are good ideas too. I also think that denying insurance the right to deny coverage or purchase due to pre-existing illness is a good idea also. Coverage of things like mammograms is also necessary.

Whatever happens as a result of the upcoming full senate vote I hope that the electorate not only holds our elected senators, congressmen, and the president responsible for their actions and their feet to the fire for the havoc this healthcare bill will wreak and the damage it will do to us both with the economy and our society. Welcome back to Simple Man Politics my friends I know it has been a while. The truth is I have gotten burned out from writing about the same Healthcare B.S. over and over and over again. Plus there has been other business related to my blogs that is in the works and it has made me pause for longer than I have cared to. However I wanted to write about this today and tie in what I feel about this and the truth that ties the U.S. citizen to it.

You see everybody on both sides of the issue of President Obama bowing to first the Saudi king and now the Japanese emperor Akihito is making a big deal out of it. The truth of the matter is that it is a big deal in both the court of public opinion here in the states and the court of world opinion as well. There are a variety of reasons why this is a big deal, although I think we can expect no less from our Commander-in-Grief.

The political left would have us believe that he bowed to neither figure or that it really didn’t mean anything but was just a sign of respect. Of course they think everyone on the political right are all extremist militants intent on the violent overthrow of the Obama administration. They also believe that our image around the world is damaged and that we should put the interests of the world and the UN above our own national interest.

Those on the political right view Obama’s actions in bowing to foreign leaders as a sign of protocol ignorance at the least and the attempted abdication of our status as the worlds lone superpower and our democracy based policy goals that have made us a force to be reckoned with around the world. The right fears our nation falling under the control of an institution like the UN or a new world government because of Obama’s obvious deference to world leaders and governments over our own nation’s sovereignty.

I personally believe that if you sit back and take a very careful, considered, and intelligent look at the policies and initiatives that President Obama with the help of house speaker Nancy Pelosi and senate majority leader Harry Reid is pushing it is obvious that he is working counter to our nations needs both domestically and internationally. He is systematically destroying the United States as we know it and here are few things as proof.

One of Obama’s signature initiatives is to close down the Guantanamo Bay detention facility even though the prisoners there are treated better than our own prisoners here in the states. He also wants to bring five of those vicious animals to New York and try them as criminals with rights that are only guaranteed to US citizens constitutionally. Never mind that they are neither entitled to those rights or even any rights under the Geneva Convention as P.O.W’s since they represent no particular recognized government and were not in any representative uniform of a recognized government.

Domestically Obama has done everything in the book but what is really needed to re-right our economy. All he has done so far is bail out the banks and two of the big three automakers and nationalized them and this includes Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac. He also wants to nationalize healthcare at the cost of over ONE TRILLION DOLLARS just to insure twenty five million uninsured, half of which still won’t qualify. There is also another bill on its way to both houses of congress known as Cap and Trade. Just Obamacare and Cap and Trade alone will raise taxes and rates on US tax payers beyond the breaking point, which is what big government means and Obama supports.

When you look at all of these facts in the cold light of day the rational explanation for what is happening is the complete and utter capitulation of rights and the might of the American people to a world that with very few exceptions despises us for our standard of living, our ingenuity, and our constitutionally guaranteed freedoms such as speech, gun ownership, and religion.

For the world Barack Obama is the perfect traitor and a disgrace to the people of the United States of America and an obvious clear and present danger to our security as well. Unfortunately he was elected by a clear majority of the citizens of the United States and the only way to cleanse ourselves of his disgrace is to replace him on November 07, 2012. Fortunately we have the chance to replace Pelosi and Reid in less than a year and I can only hope that the American people are smart this time and vote for the change we need to save us instead of the thuggery as usual we have now.

Here at Simple Man Politics I have tried and tried over the last eight months why our current Commander in Grief was elected. I have theorized, cited fact-based analysis by experts, and sometimes I have flat out accused the fifty two percent of our population who had voted for him of outright stupidity. However in all of that time I had never come up with an analogy of the election that could explain the election results.

After reading an eye opening email that involves a teacher and her class located in the Nashville area, I now believe that I have the perfect analogy that best describes why more than half of the population of the United States voted for Barack Hussein Obama. It had nothing to do with his almost total lack of recognition, or lack of experience, or inability to explain himself. He was elected on a promise with no details at all.

Here is a copy of the email that spawned this post. Some of you may find it amusing since it involves third grade kids, and kids usually always amuse me, however if we were to substitute actual voters for the students the story would not only be very sad, but very true as well. Anyway without further adieu I now give you a summation of a mock election in a third grade classroom and the subsequent results.

ONE OF THE BEST EXPLANATIONS OF WHY OBAMA WON THE ELECTION From a teacher in the Nashville area "We are worried about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream" The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year. The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded and he sat down. Now was Olivia's turn to speak. Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream." She surely would say more. She did not have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide. Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds. They want ice cream. The other 48 percent know they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess." Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone - which they have not first taken away from someone else.

It saddens me to think that fifty two percent of registered voters that voted in the last national election and fifty two percent of the nine year old third grade children in the above mentioned class voted for a president the same way. They based their votes on a promise or promises made with no rational, intelligent, or facts about how the promises made would be accomplished.

All I can say about this is that the forty eight percent of intelligent voters both in the classroom and in our country better either raise the intelligence level of more voters to increase the size of responsible voters. Failing that they will need to figure out a way to fool the fools on the other side into voting the right way in the next two election cycles. Whatever does happen though we better not eat our dessert without a well balanced diet of brain food first.

I know that over the past twelve months things have been really tough on the tax paying citizens of this country. I also know what sucks the most about this is that it isn’t the average regular Joe’s fault. The truth of the matter is that it was bad regulation and corruption by key committee chairs in both houses of congress that started it, then corporate and organized labor greed that cemented the damage to our country.

As regular folks we all get up every morning put breakfast on the table, get the kids off to school, and get ourselves to work. We all do this with thoughts like how do I pay the electric bill or phone bill on time, or how do I make enough money to pay the expensive premiums for the insurance on my car, health, and home. In the meantime the job market is getting tighter and more demanding on us regular folk we also have to worry about losing our jobs because of downsizing, outsourcing, or going out of business.

Not one of us here who lives on Main Street ever thought of ways to get more money from lobbyists, big business donations to our re-election campaigns, or payoffs that could buy our votes, However that is how our government appears to operate. Our elected officials also seem to operate under the illusion that we work for them and not vice versa. I have to ask you just how absurd or obtuse does this sound to you the tax payer?

In addition to their obvious arrogance and I’m above the law for regular folks attitude. They also actually feel that they are entitled to the best healthcare our money can buy. Tax payer funded junkets around the world so they can go shopping. The politicians also expect blind obedience from us the masses because they actually believe that they are better than us.

Add to this disgusting mix of corruption and greed their attempts to insert more government into our lives and we that people are in serious trouble. They want to control our healthcare, which is one sixth of our economy. Tax us to death under Cap and Trade using the global warming lie as an excuse to do us in, while people like Al Gore get rich under this scheme. Not to mention take god out of the equation and relieve us of our rights to bear arms thereby giving up all of our other rights.

I am here to tell you that I fervently hope we vote out at least the worst parasites in both houses of congress in the 2010 mid-term elections. I am not limiting that statement to just the leeches on the left like Pelosi, Reid, Frank, and Dodd, but those on the right like McCain and the other RINO”S too. Maybe then we can get rid of Obama in 2012 and have a government that is of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Welcome back to Simple Man Politics my friends I know it has been a while since I have written anything and I am sorry. However life has a habit of getting in the way sometimes and you have to take care of business so you can do what you like to do. That has definitely been true in my case recently, but I am well on my way to a full political rant recovery, so please bear with me.

Today I am going to write a little bit about a guy I have been listening to for quite a while on the radio and who has recently gotten himself his own show on Fox News. The guy I am talking about is none other than The Stormin Mormon Glenn Beck. To say the least this guy is a human lightning rod and fireplug that seems to thrive on political controversy, and I think both political parties are scared of him, but the left most of all.

However the thing I would like to talk about today is an interview that he gave to Katie Couric recently. In this interview he discusses the 2008 Presidential Election and makes a startling public statement that I think really floored the Republican Party as well as the Democratic Party. He not only said that he would not have voted for Obama, but that he may have even supported Hillary Clinton over John McCain.

Now I will tell you that I was really surprised by this statement, but after hearing his explanation I understand why he said what he did. Yes Glenn Beck does agree with John McCain on foreign policy and national defense issues, but he seriously disagrees with McCain on some domestic policies. The most notable of these domestic policy issues are John McCain’s support of Cap and Trade, Amnesty for Illegal’s, and Campaign Finance Reform.

What Beck basically says is that we as a nation would be no better off and maybe even worse off with McCain than with Obama. He cites that with McCain supporting those domestic policies that our economy would be in just as bad a shape and that there would more than likely have been no opposition from conservative independents or Republicans. I think that Mr. Beck may be right about this.

While I am a conservative who had voted for John McCain in 2008 I am also an independent voter with no party affiliation. With hindsight being 20/20 I have to agree that John McCain would quite possibly have been a bad choice for America to make. Unfortunately I am not a great fan of Hillary Clinton either and I would have had a hard time to vote for her even though she is a hawk on defense and foreign policy as am I.

For now though it appears that Glenn Beck has the spotlight, the soapbox, and the microphone. He also has his own organization known as the 9/12 project, which is designed with getting the grass roots conservative movement motivated. While I don’t support all of Becks views I have to agree with him that we need to strictly adhere to our nation’s constitution if we are to get out of this economic mess and remain strong as well.

I for one will be keeping an eye on Glenn Beck to see if he winds up being just like all of the other media personalities out there who are floating their own agendas and telling the American people a bunch of lies. For now though it seems to appear that we are safe from this where he is concerned. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and I will be back again soon my friends, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

It was just eight years ago today that the fabric of our nation was torn by an act of cowardice so indescribable, that it could have only been motivated by a religion of blind hatred. I am talking about the cowardly attacks against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. There is also United Flight 93, which ended in a field in Shanksville PA, when the passengers finally took action against the swine that hoped to attack the White House.

I have been thinking a lot about what I can say about this tragedy today that hasn’t already been said in the last eight years, and I have come up with exactly bupkiss. Since this tragedy there have been countless memorials, tributes, speeches, and just plain old conversation and in that time it has all been said. All I can tell you from my point of view is don’t forget. Those who do forget their history will be doomed to repeat it.

Of course there are those out there that would like nothing better than for us to forget what happened on that September day. The shock for me is that they are not all on foreign soil, because they are right here at home as well. Some of them believe that the 9/11 attacks were a conspiracy. Others in our country just want it to go away as if it had never happened, because Muslims feel disrespected that we don’t forget about 9/11.

Then there is of course our fearless leader President Barack Hussein Obama. Obama just signed into law a measure this past April that has designated September 11th a National Day of Service. I am not sure exactly what that means, but there are those out there who believe this is an attempt to drain away the meaning of this day from the American people.

The logic that seems to be promoting this theory is that the progressive, socialist, radical elements of the extreme left fear this day. They fear 9/11 because it supposedly gives the conservative right Republican Party an advantage over the Liberal left Democratic Party. Their theory being that it allows Republicans to become activists against the Democrats efforts to negotiate with the very terrorists who are responsible for 9/11.

I don’t see how anyone can say that the tragedy we as a nation suffered on 9/11 with the loss of more than 3000 deaths can give anyone an edge. The truth is that we had lost our edge on national defense and that is why the attacks were successful. The only people with a geo political agenda that thought they had benefited were the terrorists, but they found out really fast that they were wrong.

Since that dreadful day and in no small part due to the efforts of then President George Walker, Bush and his government we have regained the upper hand. For the record since that dreadful day there has been no successful attempt to attack us inside our own borders as well. Unfortunately I feel that we may lose the hard won edge that we have fought to regain since the supreme apologist and his cohorts have taken power.

However as for myself September 11th will always be a day for me to remember what was done to our nation and our people. September 11th will also serve as a reminder to me of what we should do to any person or group who dares to attack us again, and that is kill them all and let GOD sort them out later. We should show them no mercy and take no prisoners, just waterboard, torture, and then kill the lot of them.

The last few months have seen a lot of hot, heavy, and intense debate on the issue of healthcare reform, or health insurance reform, which ever it is now. I can’t remember which it is they seem to change according to how President Obama’s road blocked by protesters or his mood at the time. I simply cannot wait to see which it will be when he gives his speech to congress today.

Frankly I am very surprised that President Obama would even go this route in an attempt to gain support for healthcare reform when he can’t even get his own party on board with him. Nancy Pelosi and others in the Democratic leadership of the lower house have said they would not support a bill without a public option, while other house Democrats have said they wouldn’t support a bill with a public option.

The Democratic Party is not the only opposition that President Obama is facing when it comes to healthcare or health insurance reform either. There is been a torrential flood of opposition to this bill from Main Street as well. I am talking about actual citizens whom this bill will directly affect both young and old alike. Unfortunately for the Democrats and the ram it through style these people have read the house bill.

The evidence of tax payer dissatisfaction has been obvious in many Town Hall style meetings held over the August recess, especially at the Town Hall events held by Congressmen and Senators who are members of the Democratic Party. It has not done these members any favors to have organized labor and groups like acorn astroturfing for them either. Most of these politicians know now that if they vote in support of this bill it could cost them their re-elections.

Yet none of this opposition seems to be very important to President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, or Harry Reid. All they can see is their chance to use and abuse the power they currently have because their party controls both houses of congress and the White House. They never even felt the need to read the damn bill and understand it, because the felt that they have the right to pass it whether it hurts the American people or not.

Of course President Obama will give his speech without going into specifics, but with the belief that his words alone will be enough for everyone to suddenly realize that he is right simply because he says so. Of course Pelosi and Reid will still push their own agenda’s whether they are in line with Obama’s agenda or not. In the end what we will all hear and see is business as usual in Washington, which in this case is nothing but more spending and deficits the tax payer will be responsible for

Welcome back to Simple Man Politics on this Labor Day holiday my friends. I thought long and hard about whether or not I should write a blog for today before I decided it was the right thing to do. The reason I think it was the right decision for me to write one today is because tomorrow President Obama is going to give a speech to children in public schools that accept tax money for their programs.

Now I personally do not have anything against President Obama addressing our children if he is promoting better education in our public schools. I also think that he could accomplish the same thing with a simple P.S.A. (Public Service Announcement) However I believe that President Obama’s original intent was not to promote better education in our public schools.

I and many others whom I know and trust believe that his original intent with this speech was to bring politics into the classroom and give him a platform from which to express his ideological views and impress them upon impressionable children through indoctrination. This is evidenced by the lesson plan that was to be attached to the speech he planned to give that required our children to write down how he inspires them and how they can help him promote his agenda.

I really don’t like the idea of our public schools being used as a political tool to indoctrinate our children with any political party ideology or beliefs. I also realize that it is almost impossible to stop this from happening considering the liberal political influence that already exists in most of our universities as well as most of our nation’s school boards which are infested with the same ideological beliefs.

As a parent I am more concerned with my children’s education than their political beliefs. I do not feel that my children need to be worried about what their political orientation is going to be right now. That is because they will ultimately make that decision when they are able to become involved in the election process. I am not alone in this belief either, because I am hearing the same thing from parents all around this country.

As far as I am concerned, if the speech Obama intends to deliver to our children on Tuesday September 8th 2009 has nothing whatsoever to do with my children’s classes then it should not be aired in any school public or private. By the same token I think that they ought to trash the lesson plan for the speech also. It is the schools job to teach my children academically and my job to teach them everything else. It is not some politician’s job to do either.

I have already instructed my children’s school that they are not to subject my children in any way, shape, or form to both the speech and the lesson plan. After I had informed the school of my wishes there was a meeting at the schools district office where it was decided that the schools in the district would neither air the speech, or distribute the lesson plan. However that may not be the decision of all the school districts in our country.

I hope all of you who are parents take note of this attempt by Obama to make your children’s school a political battleground and put in our two cents worth and stop it. However I also hope that this speech is nothing more than an attempt to just keep our children interested in school. I hope you all have a fantastic Labor Day, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Protecting our country I am sure is a fulltime job, and I will bet that it isn’t an easy one either. I think that this is true considering the problems that President Clinton had doing so in his eight years in the white house. I am not being facetious in the least with this statement considering the terrorist attacks that had occurred on his watch and his only one time apparent response to these attacks as well.

Let’s take a look at the things that had happened to our country while President Clinton was in office too. We had the first World Trade Center bombing, which had happened on our own soil. There was the Khobar Towers attack in Saudi Arabia against our military personnel there as well as the USS Cole bombing in Yemen. We also had two US embassies attacked and bombed in Africa by Al Qaeda.

I am sure that after a long and intensive deliberation that a missile strike against an aspirin factory in the country of Sudan was an appropriate response for our President considering all of the attacks and subsequent deaths of American citizens that had occurred. I am also sure that having been offered custody of Bin Laden no less than three times and refusing them all was the right thing for our President to do too.

As a matter of international public record we all know what President Bush had to contend with after the 2000 election, which he won. He had to deal with the dreadful 4 pronged attack that occurred on September 11th, 2001 against the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and an almost hit on the White House that resulted in a commercial airliner going down in a field in Pennsylvania. In total more than 3000 American lives were lost

Along the way he also had to deal with a rogue criminal regime who threatened the world with WMD’s, (weapons of mass destruction) and the faulty intelligence from many sources around the world that had placed them there. Of course President Clinton had degraded our own intelligence services abilities to gather real time and excellent intelligence, but Saddam Hussein didn’t happen on his watch.

All during President Bush’s two terms in office he fought two wars. One against terrorism and a government who supported it in Afghanistan, and another against a rogue despotic regime that threatened its neighbors with unimaginable horrors and that had documented ties to terrorist groups. President Bush did everything that he could and thought necessary to fight these animals and protect our nation and people.

Of course now we have as our President Barack Hussein Obama who won the 2008 Presidential election handily. Since his election he has sought the closure of the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. He is also pursuing investigations and possible prosecutions of CIA personnel who had conducted interrogations that gave us excellent intelligence against the terrorists and stopped many more attacks against us both here and abroad.

Obama has also made overtures to rogue nations that support terrorism, such as Iran. He has also shown almost no support for Israel and its right to defend itself against the wolves that are at their door day in and day out. He even gave his first televised speech to a Muslim audience on their turf and in their press identifying himself as one of them. He also is losing the ground President Bush had gained in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Last but not least his domestic policies are a clear and present danger to our national security as well.

Now I will tell you that when it comes to the defense of our nation and people I want protection that we can believe in instead of just rhetoric. I don’t think that President Obama has given us anything else but rhetoric. As far as Bush goes you may or may not like him, but he took no B.S. from anyone when it came to defending this country from its enemies and did everything he thought necessary to kick butt. It is unfortunate for us though that he couldn’t defeat our enemies in congress like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

As you all know the arena of politics has lost one of its greatest gamesman in Ted Kennedy who is commonly referred to as “The Lion of the Senate”. Unfortunately Ted Kennedy does not appear to be the only loss suffered by his death last week. Another casualty of Kennedy’s passing is the 60 seat filibuster-proof majority in the Senate that the Democrats enjoyed, and they want it back.

What the Democratic Party in both Washington D.C. and Massachusetts want is to change the law in Massachusetts that would allow the governor Deval Patrick (D-MA) to appoint a replacement for Ted Kennedy’s seat until the special election to fill the seat is held this coming January. The law they want to overturn is the same law they passed in 2004 to keep Gov Mitt Romney (R-MA) from appointing a replacement for John Kerry if Kerry had won the Presidency.

It appears to me that the Democratic Party intends to keep Massachusetts firmly in the blue state column. They also appear to be willing to change the rules to suit themselves without any regard whatsoever. The Democrats seem so worried about a filibuster occurring during the upcoming fight for healthcare reform after the summer recess that they are salivating over the loss of their 60th Senate seat. In all likelihood the seat would be filled by a Democrat after the special election anyway.

It appears to me though that even with the 60 seat majority in the Senate, that the Democratic Party would be unable to pass a healthcare reform bill, because there is so much opposition within their own party against the bill. The opposition against the bill not only includes Democrat Senators, but a majority of tax payers are vehemently opposed to the bill as well.

I personally hope that when the Massachusetts State Legislature holds a public hearing this September 9th to discuss changing the state law to allow Governor Patrick’s to appoint a temporary successor, that there is so much opposition to the idea that it is killed outright. The Democratic Party should have to play this one by the rule they established in 2004. I personally think they will get the law changed anyway.

Welcome back again to Simple Man Politics my friends. Today’s topic is going to be about all of the hate-filled rhetoric that seems to be prevalent in political discourse and in politics in general. I find it to be very disturbing that we can’t have an intelligent debate of the issues without someone coming out and saying hateful, vile, lies that detract from the issues and problems we are facing with both policy and politicians at this time.

There are many people that I can point to as examples of this kind of speech on both sides of the political spectrum, but I am only going to focus on two people this evening. Of these two people one is an alarmist and the other is just plain stupid, but I am sure you will know who is who by the time I am done saying what I have to say. If you get them wrong then I can only deduce that you may need to read my blog on a more regular basis.

The first individual I am going to talk about is James David Manning who pastors at the ATLAH World Missionary Church in New York City. This man is definitely an ultra right wing Christian conservative and a man of color to boot. He speaks out regularly against President Obama and talks about rioting and revolt against the government by those of the Caucasian persuasion.

He not only talks about the idea of violent revolt by white people, but he seems to advocate the act as well, even wishing to be included in the riots against the government. He derisively refers to President Obama as the “Long Legged Mack Daddy” .He also calls Obama a Muslim, communist, socialist, Marxist, liar, racist, and illegal alien just to quote a few of his labels for our president. Just check out his video I put on this blog post.

Person number two I am singling out for this post is one of my personal favorite targets. If there was ever an individual I would point out as the poster child for both birth control and abortion it would have to be the ignorant, ugly, and retarded Janeane Garafalo. This woman is the trashy version of Nancy Pelosi with a foul mouth and absolutely no class. Garafalo really hates people especially white people, because she is a reverse racist.

This woman wants anyone who will listen to her to believe that anyone with a political opinion or belief that differs from hers must be what she calls tea baggers, but wants to call functionally retarded adults, or racists. She claims that these tags apply to anyone who opposes President Obama or his political agenda. I wonder if that applies to all of the conservative black Americans who oppose Obama and his domestic policies too.

It also seems as if Garafalo is against those who ask perfectly good questions about what Obama’s healthcare reform bill will do to their health benefits. The outrage against all of the wasteful spending that the White House and congress has been doing along with a national budget deficit touted to be about nine trillion dollars over the next ten years has her outraged too.

Apparently dissent is only legitimate in her eyes when it is from the left and against the right. She can not possibly fathom in her tiny little rodent mind that the party of Lincoln, you know the party the freed the slaves (Republicans) could care about this country or its people. As for the elections of 2000 and 2004 she wants you to believe that they were both stolen like 2008 except without the lies Obama spoon fed us.

Last evening saw the end of an era and the possible end of a political dynasty that has been a force in the Democratic Party, and within the halls of power in both the White House, and the senate since the beginning of the 60’s. That’s right the Lion of the Senate Ted Kennedy passed away last night at the age of 77 from brain cancer, and his presence in the Senate and the Democratic Party will be sorely missed.

We at Simple Man Politics are obviously not in agreement with most of Ted Kennedy’s political beliefs and philosophies, but we do realize the loss to the political arena that Ted Kennedy will leave with his death. We would also like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Kennedy family in their time of grief, and wish them a speedy recovery from that grief, and long and happy lives filled with their good memories of Ted Kennedy.

The only thing I have left to say about the man is that I hope he can rest in peace now. I hope you all have a great day and I will be back again on Friday, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

If you listen to the experts on both sides of the debate about the state of our nation’s economy, they all say to one degree or the other that we are still in trouble both economically and financially. These economists and finance guru’s that we keep hearing from are right too, we are still not out of the woods yet.

We are still suffering from record unemployment numbers, a massive government debt that seems to be growing with no end in sight. We also have a banking industry that is still unwilling to lend money to anyone, whether they are a business or just looking for a personal loan unless they have a Triple A credit rating.

Now our esteemed president and his ruling party have decided to guarantee 2 Billion Dollars in bailout money to Petrobras a Brazilian oil company for oil exploration within the Tupi oil field. The Tupi is located in the Santos basin near Rio de Janeiro and is considered one of the largest finds of petroleum offshore in South America.

I find this to extremely frightening considering the fact that the current administration and it’s cohorts in both houses of congress consider offshore drilling in the states something akin making a deal with the devil. Making a deal with the devil is exactly what the American people did, when we elected the current bunch of retards that run our country.

You would think that with our nation’s vast untapped natural resources and our extremely large, experienced, and talented workforce we would be exploring and recovering our own petroleum and natural gas reserves. Instead we finance foreign governments and their own oil companies, instead of securing our own nation from dependence on foreign oil and the security threat to our nation that that entails.

Our national security, economic prosperity, and American workforce are being held hostage by California, Florida, and the Democratic Party because of their unwillingness to tap into American offshore oilfields under the pretense that it would be dangerous to our national coastlines and oceans eco systems. We also have perhaps the largest land-based petroleum field in the world in the Williston Basin. (The Bakken)

Empirical scientific research and technology have proven that these perceived threats to our nation’s coastline are a hoax just like Global Warming. Yet we continue to let every environmentalist wacko and eco terrorist have their own way instead of looking out for our own interests, people, and way of life. It is because of these people and our current crop of elected representatives that the American Dream is dying out.

Trust me when I tell you that healthcare reform is not the only threat to our way of life that we have to counter, because there are plenty of threats still on the table and in the Democratic arsenal. Cap and Trade legislation is a threat as well and impacts the United States and our ability to explore, recover, and use our own resources.

There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever in my mind that the current Democrat administration and its counterparts in both the upper and lower houses of congress including the RINO’s are intent to weaken our national defenses. If you look at their domestic agenda you will not only see the evidence for yourselves, but that they have provided the proof for you to see it.

In closing todays post on Simple Man Politics I will simply say that these elected officials appear to be a clear and present danger to the security, sovereignty, and way of life to the Untied States of America. Welcome back to Simple Man Politics and the first/late post of the week. Tonight I am going to talk about the Obama event at the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in the Valley of the Sun. (Phoenix AZ) The reason I am going to talk about this is that something very unique happened there this past Monday. Apparently there were some law abiding citizens exercising their 2nd amendment rights at the event.

The idea that someone would come to a presidential event armed has gotten both sides of the gun issue up in arms if you will please pardon the pun. Gun rights advocates are in complete support of these citizens carrying guns at the event, while gun control advocates are beside themselves with anger that anyone not law enforcement or secret service would carry a gun so near to the president.

First off Arizona is a right to carry state, which means that if you can legally own a gun you may carry the weapon on your person as long as it is not concealed. This is in fact what approximately fifteen or so individuals were doing at the time of Obamas speech to the VFW convention. It has also been noted that during the entire3 event there was not one single instance of any trouble from those carrying guns.

However those folks who are opposed to gun rights such as conceal carry permit holders, private assault weapons ownership, or even private gun ownership period freaked out at the idea of a anyone carrying a gun anywhere near President Obama. They said that those people carrying guns were a distraction to those law enforcement officers and secret service personnel who were tasked to secure the event and the area.

It also appears that several law enforcement officers and at least on secret service agent were interviewed by news media outlets. The general consensus from those interviewed in the law enforcement community was that there were no problems from those carrying guns. The secret service spokesman also stated that the secret service was never distracted by this, and that those carrying guns would never have been allowed inside the venue.

The only thing that I even found remotely disturbing was that one man was not only carrying a gun on his hip, but was also in possession of an assault type rifle, which he also carried in the open strapped to his back. He said he was doing so to make a political statement about the governments wish to take away gun rights. However since it was legal for him to carry the rifle and he caused no trouble I can’t say anything against this man.

I will leave those of you who read this one particular thought about guns being carried at this event and the possibility it could happen again at another event as well. The thought is that while there were people openly carrying guns at the event; just imagine how many might have legally been carrying concealed guns at the event as well. It just goes to show you that those who legally own guns appear to be very responsible people.

I would like to welcome you all back this Friday to Simple Man Politics. I know that I have been on kind of a tear lately with regard to Obamacare or the Healthcare Reform Bill if you prefer that term. Before I go any further though, I would like to state for the record that I am not against healthcare reform in some measure. However I am just against some of the measures in the healthcare reform bill and some of its supporters.

With regard to the healthcare reform bill itself I am against provisions in the bill like tax payer funded abortions, the end of life provision, and a single payer/public option all of which are in this bill. These are not all of the things that have me concerned, but they are enough for everyone to understand why I am against this healthcare reform bill. Make no mistake all of three of these things are in there in one form or another too.

Another big reason I am against this current piece of healthcare legislation is because of certain people in both houses of congress that support it. My reason for my lack of support in this area is because there are a couple of people in particular that I wouldn’t trust with the life of a bait worm let alone a human life. The most notable of these figures are House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama.

In my opinion when you put this barely read and not altogether understood healthcare reform bill together with the likes of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and others of their ilk who support the bill, you have to worry how badly the American people are going to get screwed this time. These are the same people who supported the stimulus bill, the budget bill, the bailouts, and TARP, which was G.W. Bushes. None of these things have done any good for the American people.

As far as I can determine the only people who have had any real benefit from any of this massive amount of governmental spending are those who are in power. The reason that I say those in power is because this is all about grabbing power for these people so look at the facts as of right now. As of now the current administration and both houses of congress control our financial institutions, automobile industry, mortgage industry, and Wall Street too so why not try to control an additional 1/7th of our economy as well.

I think it is time to put away this obvious attempt at resting more control away from the American people and come up with a piece of legislation that both sides can agree on. Then maybe the American people won’t be put in the position of performing meatball surgery to both houses of congress during the mid-term elections. Although if they want to fire Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, and Frank then we would be rid of those mostly responsible for the economic damage that we all have suffered from.

The news politics today is President Obama and his town hall meeting yesterday and the political spin from both parties regarding the New Hampshire event. Normally I would be writing about that as well myself today, but I find myself a little more concerned with something that Nancy Pelosi mentioned. I am sure you are all aware that I am no fan of the house speaker, or the President, or their policies, but this is more important to me.

I am going to talk a little bit about hate and extremism today. The part of this post I am giving Pelosi credit for bringing up is only with regard to the symbol called a swastika, because Pelosi is right that the swastika is a symbol of hate. Other than that Nancy Pelosi is as usual a dumbass about her description of American citizens who oppose the Democrats healthcare reform bill.

I am a real big fan of the great melting pot of ethnic and cultural diversity in the United States, although I believe in the ideas put forth and expressed by the founding fathers in both the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I believe in the traditional, conservative, Christian values that our nation was founded on and that they should not be compromised. I also thoroughly despise extremist hatred in any way be it racial, religious, or political.

I have been a racist and a hater when I was growing up, which is something I am not proud of and over the last twenty five years or so I have done much in the way of educating myself and putting those things about myself behind me and learning tolerance and love for my fellow man. As a result of educating myself personally and learning to see every American as an equal I have a real problem with hate especially when it is in the form if sheer ignorance.

That is why I cannot tolerate people who think and believe that symbols such as the swastika are legitimate forms of representation in a democratic society. I would hope that anyone who is caught defacing someone else’s property or public property would be arrested, prosecuted, and convicted for committing a hate crime no matter what their reason is for applying this most hateful of symbols. I am not trying to censor free speech with this post, but I am trying to keep a uniquely un-American symbol out of the US.



I came across the picture in this blog while researching something else entirely different from this topic. Some ignorant, uneducated, extremist spray painted the swastika in the picture on a sign belonging to Congressman David Scott (D-GA) in Smyrna GA. While I believe he deserves to be confronted about his support for the healthcare reform bill and that he also deserves to be involved in a serious debate and discussion with is constituents I do not believe that he deserves to be a target of such hateful discrimination.

I would also say to all of you that you should in no way, shape, or form support any group or person who believes in what this symbol stands for. I am quite sure that none of my friends do support this symbol and its bearers, and that they would react quite violently against anybody who would attempt to display it in their presence. I also know that I personally would not stand idly by and allow someone to display it in my presence.

As we all know the healthcare reform debate is an often heated and emotional subject. Unfortunately the Democratic Party and its congressional representatives have resorted to front loading their town hall meetings with union thugs and their own supporters and not allowing protesters in. All of this in an effort to silence the opposition and deny any real debate from grass roots opponents.

The result of all of the Democrat’s attempts at deceiving the American people by staging these fake town hall meetings has been to incite even more unrest and opposition to their healthcare reform bill. These staged town halls have also been responsible for inciting violence as well, but not by the protesters as they Democrats would have you believe but rather by their union supporters most notably the SEIU.

I must tell you all that none of this is just my opinion either. Even though the mainstream media is doing everything they can to help Obama push his agenda, they cannot help but report some of this abuse against protesters of the healthcare bill by the unions. You don’t even have to take my word for it, because there is plenty of evidence of union violence on video just check out YouTube.

The truth of the matter is that there is really no way for the Democrats to sell this plan to the majority of the American people. So all the Democrats will do is pretend to have their supposed public town hall meetings. They will also tell their supporters in the media like Chris Matthews that all of their opposition is being staged by insurance companies, the Republicans, and right wing extremists. They will also say they need to pass the bill fast.

In the meantime the Democrats will continue to have their astroturfing supporters pack their town halls to give a good show for the media. They will also have their thug supporters like the SEIU union and ACORN attempt to intimidate as many protesters and weaken their opposition as possible before both houses of congress return from their month long summer break and attempt to pass this healthcare reform bill sham.

I don’t know about all of you, but we at Simple Man Politics do not support the Democrats attempt to silence free speech or public assembly and debate of the healthcare reform bill. There isn’t even any reason for them to pass this bill fast, because the bulk of the bill won’t even take effect until 2013. As far as those union thugs are concerned I believe there was a need for them 30 years ago, but not anymore.

Well here is a new one for the record books if it is true. Apparently the party of the people under our new Community Organizer in Chief is supposed to be attempting to silence free speech. I would really like to tell you that I find this accusation to be absolutely ridiculous, but at this point and time I cannot because there appears to be some legitimacy and truth in the accusation.

For starters the White House has in recent days advertised a new email address for people to report fraudulent claims about the proposed healthcare reform bill that Obama wants and that Democrats in both houses of congress seem more than willing to push through. Of course they want everyone to think that the fraudulent claims are made by those who oppose the bill or the Democrats.

The Democrats are also getting ready to load up their town hall meetings with organizations who support them. This is in an effort to crush and silence the grass roots movements that have been organizing against them and their healthcare bill publically. All the while the Dem’s continue to claim that the town hall opposition is being organized by the GOP, insurance companies, and the like.

This is not the only time that the left has attempted to silence free speech and the right to assembly. They have recently attempted to attack free speech from the right in the form of The Fairness Doctrine as well. This would silence the right wing media machine in the form of talk radio from getting their message out to conservative listeners. It might also do damage to news outlets such as Fox News.

Another new and favorite tactic now being used by the loony left is the baseless accusations that all the town hall protesters are acting like Nazi’s and carrying symbols such as swastikas to their healthcare town hall meetings. The White House has even gone so far as to delegitimize the protesters at the town halls who are in an uproar by saying that those in opposition are showing manufactured outrage.

The truth of the matter is that with all of the other insane spending that has been done in the name of the tax payer people have just had enough. You really can’t blame them when nobody who is trying to pass this healthcare reform bill has even read it. If you will remember the same thing happened with the budget bill. Let’s face it there is only so much Democratic Party ineptitude the American people will stand for.

All of the current polling and facts even point to the reality that the healthcare bill has virtually no traction or support among the American people, or at least those who pay taxes and vote. Before there can even be any support for this bill there are a lot of serious questions that the people want answered, but they haven’t been yet.

I will tell you what I believe. I believe in the 1st amendment. I believe in freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and the right to public assembly. I also don’t believe in restricting either sides point of view either. I also believe that telling anyone what they can say publicly or privately is censorship as in denying anyone the right to assemble. I for one will exercise my 1st amendment rights as often as I want.

Over the weekend an interesting bit of news broke on the internet at least that is where I saw it. The buzz is about the Iranian nuclear weapons program and states that Iran has developed the technology to weaponize uranium and detonate an nuclear warhead. The report also states that the Iranian government is only waiting on it’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to implement the use of the technology.

Should this news/report reveal itself to be true there will be a destabilizing effect in the Middle East. Most people will think that it is the Israelis alone who will feel threatened, but that will not be the case. There are other nations in the region who have had problems with Iran and long before this report came out. Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and possibly Pakistan and India as well will not be happy about this news.

Of those nations that I have just mentioned who are in a position to respond to this potential nuclear threat, there are only three who really have to ability to respond to the threat with a maximum show of force. These three countries are Pakistan, India, and Israel who are all weaponized with a nuclear arsenal. Although I will hazard an educated guess here and say that it will likely be Israel who responds to the threat.

There are also other reports and responses directly related to this news/report. One states that Iran will retaliate against Israel if it strikes their nuclear sites. Another suggests that our own CIA Chief has warned Israel not to bomb Iran. Still another report indicates that Israel is already preparing to assault Iran’s nuclear sites. Israel is already holding exercises and defense drills in response to a nuclear Iran as well.

Now like I said I have seen no real proof of this new report that validates it’s data. However I will go so far as to say that Israel will not listen to any nations counsel if they feel it is counter to their position and existence. I also think that when and if Israel decides to strike at Iran, the first we or the world will hear about it is when we see the mushroom clouds over Iranian territory.

I will say for the record right now that I personally don’t want to see either a nuclear or conventional attack against Iran from any nation. However I would not stand in the way of a nation who strikes at another who repeatedly threatens them, and now has the means to carry out those threats. I can only hope for the sake of the Iranian people and those people whose nations may strike at Iran that the Iranians don’t take the next step.

Well I have been looking for something to write about today here on Simple Man Politics, but I couldn’t find just one great topic to write about. As result I have picked four or five I want to get into. With any luck this post won’t take to log and you will find it interesting and a little humorous also. I will tell you that these are the most interesting topics I could find. Any way what do you say we get started, okay?

What’s with all of the news coverage about Obama, Biden, Gates, and Sgt Crowley getting together over a Beer Summit at the White House? It aint like this was a G8 summit or something like that; it was just a few beers. Granted there wouldn’t even have been a Beer Summit if Obama hadn’t opened his mouth and inserted his foot, because he didn’t know all of the facts. Heck Obama still didn’t apologize for his screw up or serve beer from an American owned brewery.

Who cares whether Janet Napolitano calls terrorism terrorism or not, even if she calls it a man made disaster we all know it is terrorism. We citizens of the state of Arizona already know she is an idiot and a fool with absolutely no experience in securing a state let alone a nation. This DUMBASS not only believes that only right wing extremists are terrorists, but she thinks sanctuary cities and illegal’s are good for our nation.

About the Al Franken/T. Boone Pickens fracas, well who really cares what Al Franken thinks about Pickens, swift boats, and John Kerry Pickens certainly don’t care. Pickens and the swift boaters were right about John Kerry and his service during The Vietnam Conflict anyway and Kerry couldn’t have beat G.W. Bush on his best day. Besides what does all of this have to do with getting us away from dependence on foreign oil? One other thing T. Boone Pickens has been successful while Franken has been a failure.

I have to ask all of you something and that is if you care whether or not President Obama loses the support of Hustler magazine owner Larry Flint. I personally don’t care one way or another what Larry Flint thinks, because he isn’t the one that has to be President B.O. is. What really surprises me is that Obama has any real support with the programs him and the Dem’s are pushing.

Well it appears that the democratic leadership in the House of Representatives has reached a deal with the moderate/conservative Bluedog arm of their party on the healthcare bill. Unfortunately for them there will be no vote on the bill before September of this year, which may kill the momentum they have already generated to pass this bill. However in my opinion this is not a bad thing for the country.

Just because there has been a deal to vote on the healthcare issue after the congressional summer break doesn’t guarantee passage of healthcare bill either. Not only are the Bluedog Democrats very unhappy and uneasy about key provisions in the bill, but almost to a man the GOP in both houses are apparently not going to support the bill at all. The cost of this proposal seems to be a problem for the GOP as well as the Bluedog’s too.

The result of all of this opposition to Obamacare has lead liberal Democrats in both houses to say that there can be no healthcare bill without Bluedog as well as GOP support. The reason for this sentiment is that when the bill fails miserably and no Republicans have voted for it as well as conservative Democrats the Democratic Party will be held solely responsible for the bills failure.

I also believe that the success of this bill or the lack thereof will have a direct response on the 2010 mid-term elections also. For the Dem’s this could be extremely catastrophic. The lower house has already pushed through it’s version of cap and trade and that bill is stuck in the Senate with no action on it. As a result the Dem’s in the lower house are worried that the same thing could happen to their healthcare proposal as well.

If the healthcare bill is stalled in the Senate like the cap and trade along with a failing economy and rising unemployment that the stimulus bill was supposed to fix then there could be a considerable shift of seats in both houses of congress to the right. The only good news for the Democrats on this subject is that the Republican brand is not yet been renovated and their approval rating is at about 28% currently, but that can change.

The only thing that could be more catastrophic for the Democratic Party than both cap and trade and healthcare being stalled is if both of those bills fail big time and the outlook becomes even direr to the American people before the mid-terms. Add to that the negative views of Democratic Party members such as Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, and NJ Governor Jon Corzine and it looks bleak for the Dem’s already.

As you all know though it will still be bad for the American people even if the Dem’s lose power in both houses in 2010. The reason being is that we will still be stuck with two more years of an Obama administration and its socialist agenda, along with the impossibly large government and deficits it has already created. Considering the current state of both parties I can only hope that the independent vote changes the balance of power in congress in 2010.

Today I am going to talk about conceal/carry rights here on Simple Man Politics. The reason for this is because there is a lot of talk about a possible law being passed that would require states to recognize conceal/carry permits from other states. This fear is both from states with strict laws regarding these permits and anti-2nd amendment activists.

This past Wednesday legislation sponsored by Senator John Thune (R, SD) was voted on. This legislation would have made it legal for conceal/carry permit holders to carry handguns across state lines. The legislation would only allow reciprocity in permitting, while still requiring the individual to obey the states laws that they are traveling within. This is exactly the same way that driver’s licenses work.

However gun control activists are about to have a stroke over this piece of legislation and are predicting the worst. Senator Frank Lautenburg (D, NJ) accuses the gun lobby of putting its agenda ahead of security and safety. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D, NY) calls the legislation a “harmful measure” that will put the public at risk. Senator Chuck Schumer (D, NY) says the bill would reduce the dramatic success of reducing crime.

These arguments are the very same ones that were used back when conceal/carry laws were originally passed. . At that time gun control advocates assured everyone that permit holders would get mad and there would be blood in the streets. Considering the fact that there had never been conceal/carry permits before I am sure that this was an obvious concern for law makers at that time.

Fortunately for gun rights advocates and unfortunately for gun control activists none of the expected horrors that were foretold ever came to pass. Instead approximately 5 million law abiding American citizens currently possess conceal/carry permits that allow them to carry across 48 states. There are also 39 of these states that have fairly liberal right to carry laws requiring background checks, a fee, and some training.

I personally have a conceal/carry permit issued in the state of Florida and will obtain one in Arizona eventually as well. I have carried a weapon concealed in virtually all of the states and no one has ever been the wiser, of course you shouldn’t advertise the fact that you are carrying in that fashion anyway. As a civilian carrying a concealed weapon I have never had to draw my weapon let alone fire it in self defense either thank God.

Data compiled from the beginning of conceal/carry rights until now indicates that violent crime where concealed weapons are legal has resulted in a drop in violent crime. The same is also true were gun ownership alone is legal as well. The reason violent crime drops in these environments is because the criminals have to worry about their victims being able to defend themselves so violent crime is less likely to occur in those areas.

I for one refuse to give up my 2nd amendment rights and my conceal/carry permit as well. I fervently hope that this is true of all of those who read Simple Man Politics too. If you want to see how gun control has worked you need only look at countries like the United Kingdom and Australia. Their law abiding citizens who are prevented from defending themselves have become nothing more than victims.
