As you all know I am somewhat of a political animal and as a result I couldn’t help boring my kids with the coverage of the Healthcare debate and vote in House of Representatives yesterday. The end of all of this culminated in my complete and utter disbelief that they actually passed the Senate version of the Healthcare Monstrosity through the Lower House.
After all of the votes were counted and guaranteed the payoffs to those whose votes were purchased we were treated to speeches by both President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In their speeches they both indicated that they had passed this bill for the people, even though almost three quarters of the US population were dead set against the bill. The truth is they didn’t do this for the people they did it to the people.
You know I have to wonder just how great this Healthcare bill is going to be for the American people. Why would they need 16,000+ new IRS/Treasury agents because of this new bill? IS it because they know all about healthcare or is it because they know how to enforce the tax code. Yep this sounds like a very tax payer friendly bill to me, and I am sure it has nothing to do with new taxes because Obama doesn’t lie.
Since it is the Senate version of the healthcare bill that has passed I wonder if tax payer funded abortion is the new law of the land. After all the language to support using tax payer funding abortion is in this bill. Nancy Pelosi and her cohorts expect this to be repaired in the senate through reconciliation, are they crazy? The Republicans now have 41 votes and can filibuster now, and not only that but why would the senate fix the bill for the lower house when this is the bill they want?
Another big problem with the new Healthcare Bill is the language within it that supports healthcare for Illegal Aliens at tax payer expense as well. I find this to be fortuitous for the Democrats since Comprehensive Immigration Reform is the next thing they want to tackle. Unfortunately for the Progressive Left I think that President Obama may have expended all of his political capitol on the Healthcare bill and Immigration Reform will have to wait for now.
Of course now all of the Congressmen and women will have to go home and answer to their constituents for passing the government takeover of one sixth of the American economy despite the tax payer majority who were against the move. I am sure this has made the mid-term elections for them interesting because they are all up for reelection unless they are going to retire in November 2010.
Well that is all for now from Simple Man Politics, but I am sure that I will be back again soon. I hope all of you have a great week full of health, wisdom, happiness, and wealth, although I am sure that at least 2 of those things will be even less possible very soon. I will talk to you all later my friends CIAO4NOW!!!!!
Attempted Suicide Of The Democratic Party By Cloture Vote.....
0 comments Posted by simpleman at 7:12 PM
As of 8:00pm Eastern Time our nation is one step closer to committing economic suicide and our promised new socialist society as promised by our failing Commander-in-Grief and his politburo in both houses of congress. The democrat controlled lower house passed it s version of Obamacare a few days ago and now the democrat controlled senate has passed by a vote of 60 to 30 a cloture vote right along party lines.
While most of the democratic senators involved will tell you that this vote is just a procedure designed to move Obamacare into the senate for a full senate debate it is actually more than that. What this vote is, is one more step closer to making Obamacare a reality even though the majority of the American people don’t want it in any form. However it is what Obama wants and his partners-in-crime that run both houses of congress will commit political suicide to give it to him.
Unfortunately senate majority leader Harry Reid still has a problem within his own party that may cause Obamacare to ultimatlely fail anyway. Three of his senators and I believe they were the last three to give their votes to Harry Reid to pass cloture have all said that it doesn’t mean they will support the bill in the final vote. Their reason for not supporting the bill is a public option in any form.
Senators Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, and Ben Nelson are the Democratic Party senators who will oppose the bill if there is a public option. Without any one of their votes for the bill Harry Reid will not be able to pass the healthcare bill, which would be a stunning defeat for both Harry Reid and President Obama. Still other democrats are worried about the costs, cuts and taxes in the bill as well.
The other thing that democrats are worried about is the political fallout and backlash that they may receive from their constituents in the 2010 mid-term elections if their terms are up at that time. They have very legitimate concerns in this regard too because virtually any poll you look at from the Quinnipiac to Rasmussen says that the majority of American tax-payer and voters are seriously opposed to this healthcare bill.
I am not going to sit here and tell you all that I think some sort of healthcare reform is not necessary because I think that it is. However I will tell you that higher taxes, bigger government, and one to two trillion dollars in cost over the next 10 years are not the answer. Raising taxes on an already overtaxed citizenry is an un-recoverable disaster waiting to happen and so are the drastic cuts to medicare being talked about right now.
I think removing the anti-trust exemption for insurance companies and make it possible for people to cross state lines to purchase insurance are two good ideas. Trying to strengthen already existing programs like medicare and Medicaid are good ideas too. I also think that denying insurance the right to deny coverage or purchase due to pre-existing illness is a good idea also. Coverage of things like mammograms is also necessary.
Whatever happens as a result of the upcoming full senate vote I hope that the electorate not only holds our elected senators, congressmen, and the president responsible for their actions and their feet to the fire for the havoc this healthcare bill will wreak and the damage it will do to us both with the economy and our society. Thanks for stopping by Simple Man Politics and I hope you all have a great evening and a beautiful Sunday my friends CIAO4NOW!!!!!
Welcome back to Simple Man Politics my friends I know it has been a while. The truth is I have gotten burned out from writing about the same Healthcare B.S. over and over and over again. Plus there has been other business related to my blogs that is in the works and it has made me pause for longer than I have cared to. However I wanted to write about this today and tie in what I feel about this and the truth that ties the U.S. citizen to it.
You see everybody on both sides of the issue of President Obama bowing to first the Saudi king and now the Japanese emperor Akihito is making a big deal out of it. The truth of the matter is that it is a big deal in both the court of public opinion here in the states and the court of world opinion as well. There are a variety of reasons why this is a big deal, although I think we can expect no less from our Commander-in-Grief.
The political left would have us believe that he bowed to neither figure or that it really didn’t mean anything but was just a sign of respect. Of course they think everyone on the political right are all extremist militants intent on the violent overthrow of the Obama administration. They also believe that our image around the world is damaged and that we should put the interests of the world and the UN above our own national interest.
Those on the political right view Obama’s actions in bowing to foreign leaders as a sign of protocol ignorance at the least and the attempted abdication of our status as the worlds lone superpower and our democracy based policy goals that have made us a force to be reckoned with around the world. The right fears our nation falling under the control of an institution like the UN or a new world government because of Obama’s obvious deference to world leaders and governments over our own nation’s sovereignty.
I personally believe that if you sit back and take a very careful, considered, and intelligent look at the policies and initiatives that President Obama with the help of house speaker Nancy Pelosi and senate majority leader Harry Reid is pushing it is obvious that he is working counter to our nations needs both domestically and internationally. He is systematically destroying the United States as we know it and here are few things as proof.
One of Obama’s signature initiatives is to close down the Guantanamo Bay detention facility even though the prisoners there are treated better than our own prisoners here in the states. He also wants to bring five of those vicious animals to New York and try them as criminals with rights that are only guaranteed to US citizens constitutionally. Never mind that they are neither entitled to those rights or even any rights under the Geneva Convention as P.O.W’s since they represent no particular recognized government and were not in any representative uniform of a recognized government.
Domestically Obama has done everything in the book but what is really needed to re-right our economy. All he has done so far is bail out the banks and two of the big three automakers and nationalized them and this includes Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac. He also wants to nationalize healthcare at the cost of over ONE TRILLION DOLLARS just to insure twenty five million uninsured, half of which still won’t qualify. There is also another bill on its way to both houses of congress known as Cap and Trade. Just Obamacare and Cap and Trade alone will raise taxes and rates on US tax payers beyond the breaking point, which is what big government means and Obama supports.
When you look at all of these facts in the cold light of day the rational explanation for what is happening is the complete and utter capitulation of rights and the might of the American people to a world that with very few exceptions despises us for our standard of living, our ingenuity, and our constitutionally guaranteed freedoms such as speech, gun ownership, and religion.
For the world Barack Obama is the perfect traitor and a disgrace to the people of the United States of America and an obvious clear and present danger to our security as well. Unfortunately he was elected by a clear majority of the citizens of the United States and the only way to cleanse ourselves of his disgrace is to replace him on November 07, 2012. Fortunately we have the chance to replace Pelosi and Reid in less than a year and I can only hope that the American people are smart this time and vote for the change we need to save us instead of the thuggery as usual we have now.
I would like to thank you all for visiting Simple Man Politics today and taking the time to read this post. I can only hope that in some way I have opened the eyes of those whose eyes are closed and reinforced the vision of our nation for those who see it this clearly. I hope you all have a marvelous evening and an awesome week. I will see you all again soon my friends so CIAO4NOW!!!!!
The last few months have seen a lot of hot, heavy, and intense debate on the issue of healthcare reform, or health insurance reform, which ever it is now. I can’t remember which it is they seem to change according to how President Obama’s road blocked by protesters or his mood at the time. I simply cannot wait to see which it will be when he gives his speech to congress today.
Frankly I am very surprised that President Obama would even go this route in an attempt to gain support for healthcare reform when he can’t even get his own party on board with him. Nancy Pelosi and others in the Democratic leadership of the lower house have said they would not support a bill without a public option, while other house Democrats have said they wouldn’t support a bill with a public option.
The Democratic Party is not the only opposition that President Obama is facing when it comes to healthcare or health insurance reform either. There is been a torrential flood of opposition to this bill from Main Street as well. I am talking about actual citizens whom this bill will directly affect both young and old alike. Unfortunately for the Democrats and the ram it through style these people have read the house bill.
The evidence of tax payer dissatisfaction has been obvious in many Town Hall style meetings held over the August recess, especially at the Town Hall events held by Congressmen and Senators who are members of the Democratic Party. It has not done these members any favors to have organized labor and groups like acorn astroturfing for them either. Most of these politicians know now that if they vote in support of this bill it could cost them their re-elections.
Yet none of this opposition seems to be very important to President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, or Harry Reid. All they can see is their chance to use and abuse the power they currently have because their party controls both houses of congress and the White House. They never even felt the need to read the damn bill and understand it, because the felt that they have the right to pass it whether it hurts the American people or not.
Of course President Obama will give his speech without going into specifics, but with the belief that his words alone will be enough for everyone to suddenly realize that he is right simply because he says so. Of course Pelosi and Reid will still push their own agenda’s whether they are in line with Obama’s agenda or not. In the end what we will all hear and see is business as usual in Washington, which in this case is nothing but more spending and deficits the tax payer will be responsible for
That is all for now from Simple Man Politics on this subject. I will however leave all of you with another thought and that is what kind of damage will the Cap and Trade bill do? Make no mistake that is for sure the next big fight we have against big government and out of control taxing and spending. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday my friends CIAO4NOW!!!!!
Welcome back to Simple Man Politics on this Labor Day holiday my friends. I thought long and hard about whether or not I should write a blog for today before I decided it was the right thing to do. The reason I think it was the right decision for me to write one today is because tomorrow President Obama is going to give a speech to children in public schools that accept tax money for their programs.
Now I personally do not have anything against President Obama addressing our children if he is promoting better education in our public schools. I also think that he could accomplish the same thing with a simple P.S.A. (Public Service Announcement) However I believe that President Obama’s original intent was not to promote better education in our public schools.
I and many others whom I know and trust believe that his original intent with this speech was to bring politics into the classroom and give him a platform from which to express his ideological views and impress them upon impressionable children through indoctrination. This is evidenced by the lesson plan that was to be attached to the speech he planned to give that required our children to write down how he inspires them and how they can help him promote his agenda.
I really don’t like the idea of our public schools being used as a political tool to indoctrinate our children with any political party ideology or beliefs. I also realize that it is almost impossible to stop this from happening considering the liberal political influence that already exists in most of our universities as well as most of our nation’s school boards which are infested with the same ideological beliefs.
As a parent I am more concerned with my children’s education than their political beliefs. I do not feel that my children need to be worried about what their political orientation is going to be right now. That is because they will ultimately make that decision when they are able to become involved in the election process. I am not alone in this belief either, because I am hearing the same thing from parents all around this country.
As far as I am concerned, if the speech Obama intends to deliver to our children on Tuesday September 8th 2009 has nothing whatsoever to do with my children’s classes then it should not be aired in any school public or private. By the same token I think that they ought to trash the lesson plan for the speech also. It is the schools job to teach my children academically and my job to teach them everything else. It is not some politician’s job to do either.
I have already instructed my children’s school that they are not to subject my children in any way, shape, or form to both the speech and the lesson plan. After I had informed the school of my wishes there was a meeting at the schools district office where it was decided that the schools in the district would neither air the speech, or distribute the lesson plan. However that may not be the decision of all the school districts in our country.
That is all for now from Simple Man Politics my friends. I hope all of you who are parents take note of this attempt by Obama to make your children’s school a political battleground and put in our two cents worth and stop it. However I also hope that this speech is nothing more than an attempt to just keep our children interested in school. I hope you all have a fantastic Labor Day, CIAO4NOW!!!!!
Protecting our country I am sure is a fulltime job, and I will bet that it isn’t an easy one either. I think that this is true considering the problems that President Clinton had doing so in his eight years in the white house. I am not being facetious in the least with this statement considering the terrorist attacks that had occurred on his watch and his only one time apparent response to these attacks as well.
Let’s take a look at the things that had happened to our country while President Clinton was in office too. We had the first World Trade Center bombing, which had happened on our own soil. There was the Khobar Towers attack in Saudi Arabia against our military personnel there as well as the USS Cole bombing in Yemen. We also had two US embassies attacked and bombed in Africa by Al Qaeda.
I am sure that after a long and intensive deliberation that a missile strike against an aspirin factory in the country of Sudan was an appropriate response for our President considering all of the attacks and subsequent deaths of American citizens that had occurred. I am also sure that having been offered custody of Bin Laden no less than three times and refusing them all was the right thing for our President to do too.
As a matter of international public record we all know what President Bush had to contend with after the 2000 election, which he won. He had to deal with the dreadful 4 pronged attack that occurred on September 11th, 2001 against the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and an almost hit on the White House that resulted in a commercial airliner going down in a field in Pennsylvania. In total more than 3000 American lives were lost
Along the way he also had to deal with a rogue criminal regime who threatened the world with WMD’s, (weapons of mass destruction) and the faulty intelligence from many sources around the world that had placed them there. Of course President Clinton had degraded our own intelligence services abilities to gather real time and excellent intelligence, but Saddam Hussein didn’t happen on his watch.
All during President Bush’s two terms in office he fought two wars. One against terrorism and a government who supported it in Afghanistan, and another against a rogue despotic regime that threatened its neighbors with unimaginable horrors and that had documented ties to terrorist groups. President Bush did everything that he could and thought necessary to fight these animals and protect our nation and people.
Of course now we have as our President Barack Hussein Obama who won the 2008 Presidential election handily. Since his election he has sought the closure of the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. He is also pursuing investigations and possible prosecutions of CIA personnel who had conducted interrogations that gave us excellent intelligence against the terrorists and stopped many more attacks against us both here and abroad.
Obama has also made overtures to rogue nations that support terrorism, such as Iran. He has also shown almost no support for Israel and its right to defend itself against the wolves that are at their door day in and day out. He even gave his first televised speech to a Muslim audience on their turf and in their press identifying himself as one of them. He also is losing the ground President Bush had gained in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Last but not least his domestic policies are a clear and present danger to our national security as well.
Now I will tell you that when it comes to the defense of our nation and people I want protection that we can believe in instead of just rhetoric. I don’t think that President Obama has given us anything else but rhetoric. As far as Bush goes you may or may not like him, but he took no B.S. from anyone when it came to defending this country from its enemies and did everything he thought necessary to kick butt. It is unfortunate for us though that he couldn’t defeat our enemies in congress like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.
That is all from Simple Man Politics for this week, but I will be back next week with more. Have a great day and an awesome weekend my friends CIAO4NOW!!!!!
I would like to welcome you all back this Friday to Simple Man Politics. I know that I have been on kind of a tear lately with regard to Obamacare or the Healthcare Reform Bill if you prefer that term. Before I go any further though, I would like to state for the record that I am not against healthcare reform in some measure. However I am just against some of the measures in the healthcare reform bill and some of its supporters.
With regard to the healthcare reform bill itself I am against provisions in the bill like tax payer funded abortions, the end of life provision, and a single payer/public option all of which are in this bill. These are not all of the things that have me concerned, but they are enough for everyone to understand why I am against this healthcare reform bill. Make no mistake all of three of these things are in there in one form or another too.
Another big reason I am against this current piece of healthcare legislation is because of certain people in both houses of congress that support it. My reason for my lack of support in this area is because there are a couple of people in particular that I wouldn’t trust with the life of a bait worm let alone a human life. The most notable of these figures are House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama.
In my opinion when you put this barely read and not altogether understood healthcare reform bill together with the likes of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and others of their ilk who support the bill, you have to worry how badly the American people are going to get screwed this time. These are the same people who supported the stimulus bill, the budget bill, the bailouts, and TARP, which was G.W. Bushes. None of these things have done any good for the American people.
As far as I can determine the only people who have had any real benefit from any of this massive amount of governmental spending are those who are in power. The reason that I say those in power is because this is all about grabbing power for these people so look at the facts as of right now. As of now the current administration and both houses of congress control our financial institutions, automobile industry, mortgage industry, and Wall Street too so why not try to control an additional 1/7th of our economy as well.
I think it is time to put away this obvious attempt at resting more control away from the American people and come up with a piece of legislation that both sides can agree on. Then maybe the American people won’t be put in the position of performing meatball surgery to both houses of congress during the mid-term elections. Although if they want to fire Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, and Frank then we would be rid of those mostly responsible for the economic damage that we all have suffered from.
Well that’s it for this week at Simple Man Politics. I hope you all have a glorious weekend and I look forward to seeing you all gain next week, CIAO4NOW!!!!!
The news politics today is President Obama and his town hall meeting yesterday and the political spin from both parties regarding the New Hampshire event. Normally I would be writing about that as well myself today, but I find myself a little more concerned with something that Nancy Pelosi mentioned. I am sure you are all aware that I am no fan of the house speaker, or the President, or their policies, but this is more important to me.
I am going to talk a little bit about hate and extremism today. The part of this post I am giving Pelosi credit for bringing up is only with regard to the symbol called a swastika, because Pelosi is right that the swastika is a symbol of hate. Other than that Nancy Pelosi is as usual a dumbass about her description of American citizens who oppose the Democrats healthcare reform bill.
I am a real big fan of the great melting pot of ethnic and cultural diversity in the United States, although I believe in the ideas put forth and expressed by the founding fathers in both the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I believe in the traditional, conservative, Christian values that our nation was founded on and that they should not be compromised. I also thoroughly despise extremist hatred in any way be it racial, religious, or political.
I have been a racist and a hater when I was growing up, which is something I am not proud of and over the last twenty five years or so I have done much in the way of educating myself and putting those things about myself behind me and learning tolerance and love for my fellow man. As a result of educating myself personally and learning to see every American as an equal I have a real problem with hate especially when it is in the form if sheer ignorance.
That is why I cannot tolerate people who think and believe that symbols such as the swastika are legitimate forms of representation in a democratic society. I would hope that anyone who is caught defacing someone else’s property or public property would be arrested, prosecuted, and convicted for committing a hate crime no matter what their reason is for applying this most hateful of symbols. I am not trying to censor free speech with this post, but I am trying to keep a uniquely un-American symbol out of the US.
I came across the picture in this blog while researching something else entirely different from this topic. Some ignorant, uneducated, extremist spray painted the swastika in the picture on a sign belonging to Congressman David Scott (D-GA) in Smyrna GA. While I believe he deserves to be confronted about his support for the healthcare reform bill and that he also deserves to be involved in a serious debate and discussion with is constituents I do not believe that he deserves to be a target of such hateful discrimination.
I would also say to all of you that you should in no way, shape, or form support any group or person who believes in what this symbol stands for. I am quite sure that none of my friends do support this symbol and its bearers, and that they would react quite violently against anybody who would attempt to display it in their presence. I also know that I personally would not stand idly by and allow someone to display it in my presence.
I hope you all have a wonderful day today, and I will be back again very soon my friends, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Tonight I was either privileged or tortured with another one of President Obama’s primetime national address depending on who you ask. While this evenings speech/Q&A was a little bit entertaining it never the less had less real substance in it than an empty test tube. I can only say one thing about this speech with any degree of certainty, and that is that he must think the American people are gullible and stupid.
In addition to the Obamacare/healthcare plan that Obama is currently trying to shove down the tax payer’s throat there was some attention paid to other issues as well. There was discussion in the Q&A about topics such as racism, TARP, stimulus, and the new budget bill. Throughout the Q&A Obama did an excellent job of deflecting his responsibility for the budget deficits or said that our worries were unnecessary.
Regarding his healthcare reform initiative he gave some great oratory supporting his view that he needed to reform healthcare and that only his way was the right way. He was also quick to point out that business as usual within the healthcare industry was unsatisfactory and had to change. He was also equally quick to point out that the sooner he got his bill through congress the better of we as a nation were going to be.
However throughout his entire speech and the subsequent Q&A he never answered any serious questions directly about what he was going to do or how healthcare reform was going to be accomplished. There were no hard facts at all about how this new public healthcare option was going to be paid for or how this would give patients and healthcare providers better options for patient healthcare.
As I had stated earlier he had talked about tonight such as finance reform, record deficit spending, and new banking regulations. The big problem here is he expects the American tax payer as well as congressmen, and senators to accept his opinion on healthcare as solid fact and swallow it like tripe. An even bigger problem with his healthcare proposal is that no one including himself has even read the damn thing.
I will agree that something has to be done about healthcare because it is enormously costly when you look at the cost of procedures, physician reimbursement, and insurance premiums. I will also tell you that I don’t think government bureaucrats being involved in the diagnosis or treatment process is the answer, which is what I also believe when it comes to the financial, investment, and auto industries.
I will also tell you that considering what I know about the Canadian and UK national healthcare programs that nationalized healthcare is the wrong answer. If you need proof closer to home than those of the Canadians and the UK just look at the public healthcare option in Massachusetts. That state has never ever been able to make it work without propping it up with a lot of state tax payer dollars.
From Simple Man Politics that is all for now. I hope you all have a wonderful night and I will see you all again soon CIAO4NOW!!!!!
I know I haven’t really tackled this issue on its own and I have only addressed it generally when discussing Obama’s other plans, but today I am going to address this issue as its own subject on Simple Man Politics. The reason being that it is about to go to the senate and ultimately get voted on very soon, and that's healthcare.
I will tell you that most of the people I know are very much against this idea. However there are a couple of people whose opinions I highly value who have so far said nothing to me about it and they are medical professionals as well. Since one of these individuals is also an Obama supporter I am very curious about that opinion in particular.
Healthcare was a topic that was touched upon by both John McCain and Barack Obama during their campaigns to get into the White House. John McCain had the idea of taxing people’s health benefits as part of his healthcare plan. Barack Obama said that healthcare was an important issue for him, but gave no indications to how he would deal with it.
Of course now President Obama has presented his version of a healthcare plan to both houses of congress for approval and passage. Just like all of his other programs, it requires enlarging government and trillions of American tax payer dollars. It also appears to have been built on a model similar to that of our Canadian brother’s healthcare plan.
Considering the fact that the Canadian healthcare system has proven to be an abject failure I find it hard to believe that our government will go in that direction. The horror stories that have come out of Canada about long waits, lack of treatment, lack of healthcare professionals, and bureaucratic red tape I cringe at the prospect.
As usual the White House and congress are looking at how they are going to pay for this cumbersome and unwieldy monstrosity they call their healthcare plan, and have decided to once again tax the wealthy to pay for it. The reason being is that the wealthy can afford it and should pay for everyone who doesn’t have insurance rather they can afford it or not.
There are also congress persons who believe that you should be forced to either pay for your own healthcare plan or take the nationalized plan and if you don’t then be fined and they want a provision that forces all hospitals to perform abortions. Obama himself wants total control over how much Medicare will reimburse hospitals and healthcare providers.
Organizations including the CBO (Congressional Budget Office) and the GAO (Governmental Accounting Office) have said that there will be no financial relief for the American tax payer in this plan just more of an already unrecoverable tax burden. They also state that this will drive many healthcare providers into bankruptcy.
Scott Rasmussen of Rasmussen Reports a pollster is the latest in his profession to come out with the latest polling data and a new poll that shows that the vast majority of Americans are against the Obama plan. Data has also been introduced that shows Obama and Democratic Party approval ratings continue to slide with this issue.
Here are a couple more interesting tidbits of information for you all. Apparently when it is all said and done only about 10% of uninsured Americans will wind up with healthcare. Oh yeah and 12 million illegal immigrants will get healthcare too and we will have to pay for them also.
I don’t know what you all have done about this yourselves, but I have emailed both of my Senators and all of Arizona’s congresspersons telling them to vote no for this bill or I will vote no for them in their next elections. I do agree that healthcare is an important issue, but I do not agree that this particular plan will address and solve the problem.
That is all we have for you today here at Simple Man Politics, but we will be back again soon with more of what is important in the world of politics. Have a marvelous day my friends and CIAO4NOW!!!!!
Once again it seems that the Democrats are going to go after the CIA even though they got hit in the snot locker the last time they did this. I find this idea that the CIA should be treated like criminals for being protective of their intelligence secrets. Particularly since they are after all an intelligence agency where need to know actually is not only a good idea, but saves the lives of their operatives as well.
It also appears that even when the CIA does give intelligence briefings they are treated like thieves, liars, and cheats also. For example we all know that the CIA gave intelligence briefings on the subject of water boarding and other harsh interrogation techniques to the appropriate intelligence committees in both houses of congress. We also know who got these briefings too.
Of course we all know ha happened then Nancy “Pinocchio” Pelosi stood right up and lied through her teeth stating that she was never briefed on these techniques and accused the CIA of lying to her. Leon Panetta quickly produces evidence showing Pelosi got those briefings and she still denies any memory of the briefings and continues to attack the CIA rather than just say she must have forgotten or even apologize and put it behind her.
There was also the case of congress going after the CIA and Dick Cheney too. Congress apparently was not very happy about the idea that they would attack the intelligence agency and Dick Cheney would promptly jump to their defense and speak publicly about the CIA and its methods of operation where intelligence gathering techniques were applied. Dick Cheney even gave an opposing speech on the topic right after President Obama spoke on the topic and blew Obama’s speech right out of the water.
Well now congress is going to go after the CIA again for keeping information out of their hands. This concerns a CIA program that was discussed and researched by the agency with regard to removing high value Al Qaeda targets up close and personal instead of using technology such as the Predator drone. This program never even got past the R&D stage and no congressional notification was required.
However the idea of killing Al Qaeda leaders does not seem to be very palatable to those in the Democratic Party. This is the case because these Democrats who crave global acceptance, and are socially weak, anti-national defense types cannot believe that after eight years, we cannot negotiate for peace with these Islamofascists animals instead of killing them. They think this even when they are faced with incontrovertible evidence that they still want as many Americans dead as possible if not all of us.
In the immortal words of a once powerful pope during the crusades “kill them all and let God sort them out”. Where these Islamic terrorist pigs are3 concerned that is just what I believe. I also believe that agencies like the CIA, NSA, and military organizations like the JSOC do their best work when they are operating on real-time intelligence, under the mantle of secrecy, and even employing harsh interrogation techniques.
The truth of the matter is that I really don’t care at all what happens to the terrorists and if we kill them all I can sleep at night with that. I would also rather be fighting this war over in their backyard instead of ours, because I believe in better them than us. I like the idea of having intelligence and defense capabilities that scare the crap out of our enemies because they have no idea what we are up to. Unfortunately I think it is going to take another 9/11 type attack or worse on our soil to make it happen.
Thanks for stopping by Simple Man Politics today.I hope you all have a fantastic day and I will see you all again soon, CIAO4NOW!!!!!
Well today has seen a lot of action on the hill in congress today. A lot of that action is centered on the 83.5 billion dollar emergency war fundi9ng bill that President Obama sought in April and is expected to sign very soon. Unfortunately just like every other bill involving money that comes out of congress and the administration, t is bloated with funds for things that are not associated with the original intent of the bill.
In this case by the time congress got done with re-writing the emergency war funding bill, the bill went from 83.5 billion dollars up to 105.9 billion dollars. Now there are pet projects for the lawmakers in it for things like “cash for clunkers” auto trade-in program, 2.1 billion dollars to purchase eight C-17 Globemaster airplanes, 5 billion for the IMF (International Monetary Fund). There is also 500 million dollars in earmark spending, which will go mostly to Mississippi.
We went from a newly elected President who had promised no earmarks or lobbyists, and a transparent administration to a politics as usual democratically controlled administration and congress. Politics as usual on the left side of the aisle is proving to be increasingly expensive to the American tax payer, and a danger to the nation with regard to national security. With their attempts at nationalized healthcare, education, and a reduction in defense spending in these dangerous times we are all in big trouble.
Unfortunately for us the average American citizen who does not support massively increasing the size of government and the national debt ten-fold before the end of Obama’s first term. I fear the damage may already be done and irreversible before we even see the 2010 mid-term elections. However with most of the so called moderate Republicans out there I think that even with a McCain Presidency things would not be all that much different.
Well that’s it for today my friends, but I’m sure I will find something else to complain about very soon. I hope you all have an excellent day and I will see you again soon, CIAO4NOW!!!!!
Well as we all know President Obama is a consummate politician and he proved that again on Memorial Day. I must tell you that I actually applaud his effort at dodging the race card and doing so effectively.
We all know that as President it is his duty to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. However, very few people know about the ceremonies at both the African American Civil War Memorial, and the Confederate Civil War Memorial.
Apparently there was a petition from a group of about 60 professors asking the White House and our first black President to break with tradition and to not memorialize military members of the Confederacy because the Southern states supported slavery. This group also stated that the Arlington Confederate Memorial is a denial of the wrong committed against African Americans.
In true politician style fashion our first black President Barack Hussein Obama not only laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, but he also sent representatives to both the African American Civil War Memorial and the Confederate Civil War Memorial with wreaths for them both.
While sending a wreath to the Confederate Memorial is a traditional practice though not well publicized it is an unprecedented step by the President to send a wreath to the African American Memorial in Washington D.C.’s historically black U Street neighborhood.
I must tell you that I personally feel that any American who died in a war representing people of this nation including the War Between the States deserves to be honored on Memorial Day both white and black, Yankee, or Johnny Reb. For the record not only did whites fight for the Confederacy but blacks did so as well and they should be honored also.
That is all I have to talk about today, but tomorrow we will be discussing the national security challenges that Barack Obama is facing especially in light of both North Korea and Irans actions on Memorial Day. I hope you all have a terrific day CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Will There Be Governmental Transparency In The Digital Age?????

President Obama has promised us a transparent government and has started the ball rolling with a website called Recovery.gov, which is supposed to allow the taxpayer to follow the 787 billion dollars in economic stimulus authorized in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This is supposed to show us what states, cities, contractors and non profits have received these funds.
The web is definitely the right place to do this and will show us the taxpayer if the government is ultimately really becoming more open. At this point though this program is still in its infancy and with many hurdles still to go before Obama can say it is a success. I for one think it has great potential as long as it is not mired down in bureaucratic red tape and political manipulation.
One of recovery.govs biggest obstacles is the vast amount of data sources it will need to incorporate, there are virtually hundreds of thousands of different sources that the government will need to disseminate and incorporate into one site to give us the whole picture. Unfortunately todays agencies only email spreadsheets that show the first step in funds distribution but not the entire trail from start to finish. There is much more at stake here though than just tracking the stimulus money this could ultimately change the way government shares data.
Greg Elin, Chief Evangelist for the Sunlight Foundation, a non profit that promotes government transparency compares the possibility to the way Wal-Mart using the web and data sharing within its corporate structure to maximize revenue, performance, and reliability between itself and its vendors. Wal-Mart has been in the forefront of using web based technologies and tools in the private sector but not without a lot of trial and error.
The possibility that this new effort by the Obama administration could fall prey to the same sort of failures as USAspending.gov, a site that came out of the Federal Funding and Transparency Act of 2006. This act was introduced by then Senator Barack Obama (D) of Illinois and Senator Coburn (R) of Oklahoma is very real. Due to the bills requirements for pilot programs, XML data formatting, and unresolved chronic issues the bill went no where and shows no potential.
There are five big risks that recovery.gov still faces and they are very challenging to the success of this latest attempt at governmental transparency by the Obama administration. Here is a list of these five risks as posted in Information Week.
1) Stale Data- Manual email updates won’t deliver enough fresh data and will be costly to maintain. A better route: Web standard data feeds.
2) Useless Data. Unless citizens can easily search and analyze the information, it’s just a portal into yet another data silo.
3) States Resist. The feds are working out what data they can demand. Without it transparency hits a dead end at the state level.
4) Feds Resist. Agencies can’t refuse OMB rules, but they can drag their feet on needed IT investments.
5) Delays. Stimulus spending gives transparency unusual urgency and delays can squander this momentum.
The OMB (Office of Management and Budget) is the agency running point on addressing a lot of these IT questions. Their current plan is to receive all data centrally at a site tentatively called FederalReporting.gov and it is from this site that data will be drawn to present on the Recovery.gov website. The worry here is that they will not have all of the information available to the public until fall when first quarter spending reports are due. By that time there will have been tens of billions of dollars paid out.
The Obama administration has not been very bashful about asking for help in resolving IT issues, which is a good thing if Recovery.gov is to get off of the ground and work effectively. The week of April 27th 2009 Recovery.gov aired a video on YouTube asking for help. Earl Devaney the former Inspector General of the Department of the Interior who now chairs the Recovery Board has asked leading IT developers, thinkers, and consumers to take part in an online roundtable at TheNationalDialogue.org so that their knowledge could influence the development and operation of Recovery.gov.
To say the least there has been a lot of effort, thought, and talent put up to try to make Recovery.gov a viable, valuable, and important entity in this supposed new age of governmental transparency that has been promised by the Obama administration. This idea of a transparency 2.0 could very well be the important first step and I think a good one as well. My worry is not that Recovery.gov cannot be done my worry is that transparency was just an empty campaign promise.
There has already been evidence that this administration and its supporters have used secrecy, diversion, and outright deception to achieve their goals, which is not surprising to me since most of them seem to be tax cheats and liars anyway. Then again most politicians are liars at one time or another if it furthers their cause. I think transparency is a wonderful dream but a dream none the less although I hope I am wrong.
That is all for today my friends but I will see you all again on Tuesday. Have a marvelous day all CIAO4NOW!!!!!
There are a lot of subjects that I can close out the week with like Obama cutting 17 billion dollars out of his budget by going line by line, which aint much less than 1%. Or I could talk about Obama giving the UAW (United Auto Workers Union) The Chrysler Company, which is no big surprise. Or I can talk some more about the closing of Gitmo, which is exactly what I am going to do.
If my timing is still right President Obama only has about 7 months left out of the 12 months he designated at the start of his administration to close down the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility and relocate 241 of the worlds most rabid terrorist animals. As of this post there has still been no executive decision as to where this scum will be going either.
In February of this year congressman John Shadegg introduced a bill (H.R. 1238) known as the “Keep Terrorists out of America Act”. The bill has the support of the house Republican leadership and it would keep all of the Gitmo detainees from ever stepping foot on US soil. I think the senate Republican leadership should get behind this bill to and pass it in its original language. Many states are looking at passing legislation that would bar this scum from coming to their states also.
Now I personally think that we should send them back to the countries that they came from thereby placing the burden of their presence on the nations that have spawned them. Unfortunately for them that would be a death sentence for the majority of these radical Islamists, which sounds good to me. There appears to be a few countries that would be willing to take the detainees but most of these nations have a strong Islamic radical presence and they would probably go right back to the battlefield once inside one of these nations.
As a result of all of this though I believe that ultimately the Obama administration and his personality cult in both houses of congress, are going to attempt to strong arm states into taking detainees inside their borders, which tramples these states constitutional rights to govern their own residents within their own borders. Of course we all know by now that Obama and company don’t care about anyone’s rights, because they only care about their power to force the American people into submitting to their wills.
Like I said originally I think we should send them all back to where they came from. However if that is not an option we should bring them all here turn them loose up in the Big Empty of Montana and have ourselves a terrorist hunting season that does not end until all 241 of these creatures are hunted down, killed, stuffed, and mounted by any tax payer that blows their brains out. I don’t know about anyone else but it sounds not only like a good idea but fun to.
That is all I have to rant about for today my friends, but I will be back next week with more Simple Man Politics just for you. I hope you all have a fantastic Friday and a fun filled weekend, CIAO4NOW!!!!!
Well here we are once again discussing the issue of our valiant men and women who wear the uniform and how they will get the medical care necessary to treat the injuries they received in battle. Apparently President Obama (Commander in Grief) still doesn’t understand why military personnel can’t purchase their own insurance to pay for injuries sustained during their service to our nation.
Even after Obama backed off from the issue earlier in the year he is still surprised with the amount of opposition to his proposal. “Look it’s an all volunteer force” said Obama. Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn’t compute”. Obama went on to say “I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country”.
Obama went even further in saying “I wasn’t asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in history, I’d have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation’s deficit. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans”.
It so totally amazed me when I first read these quotes sent to me in an email and I was even more amazed when I checked the quotes out myself and found them to be true. I just could not believe that the man who is supposed to be the Commander in Chief of our armed forces would want to deny these American warriors the care they deserve for serving our nation. They get so little pay for the burdens that they bear that the last thing they should have to worry about is getting medical services for injuries sustained on our behalf.
However I probably shouldn’t be so surprised considering everything else that Obama expects the American people to sacrifice for the good or bad of his Presidential legacy, and I’m willing to bet it will be a bad legacy. It seems we will have to sacrifice life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness before this guy will even be a little satisfied. Not only does he want to kill the American dream, but he doesn’t even care if those defending these rights die from lack of necessary medical services.
This man has no love in his heart at all for the American people, but I am not surprised about that because I personally don’t believe that he is an American at heart. I think he is what is name portrays him to be a radical Muslim whose agenda is to drag our country down to their standard of living. Not only that but he wants to have our laws interpreted by the use of international law, and turn over our sovereignty to someone like the United Nations, which makes Obama a global socialist.
I guess those who voted for Obama are getting just what they wanted and making us suffer along with them for their ignorance and idiocy in voting this sham and con artist into the White House and make no mistake we will definitely pay the price for that and look on that day as a day that will go down in infamy. To steal another line from one of my favorite characters “Stupid is as stupid does”. You got that one right Forrest Gump.
I will be back again tomorrow my friends and I hope you all have a marvelous day, CIAO4NOW!!!!!
I swear to God that this is the last time I am going to write about this whole Somalian pirate crud, but I am going to write about it today for two reasons. One of those reasons is to set the record straight, and the other is to recommend a course of action in order to deal with this scum.
First off let’s give credit where credit is due. Yes Obama gets the credit for ordering the takedown of the pirates holding Captain Phillips and his subsequent rescue as well. It is common knowledge that virtually all Seal Operations are authorized by the President, because they are his go to guys for the dirty work and they are damn good at it to.
Now while Obama may have authorized the operation the credit for the operation goes to the planners who put it together, and the operators who executed the plan. No President sits in on the play by play details of putting a plan together. Obama probably had no idea what assets the commander in the field would use be they Seals or Marines and what their equipment might be.
Now on to the course of action I think should be taken in order to deal with this ocean going scum. Right off the bat I would say that we have to have our US flagged merchant marine vessels armed well enough to sink these idiots and kill them. I also believe that our Naval and Marine forces should have a heavy presence in the pirate’s area of operations so they can hit them at every opportunity.
The reason I believe that we should have a strong military presence there is that the pirates have already expressed that they will kill anyone on board a ship under the American Flag. The stated that there would be retaliation for the killing of the three pirates involved in the attempted Maersk Alabama highjacking.
As of this morning there had already been a retaliatory strike against an American congressman by the name of Donald Payne (D) who was leaving Mogadishu. A group of Islamist insurgents fired mortars at the airport as the congressman’s plane was departing for Nairobi Kenya.
The House Sergeant at Arms office confirmed that the State Department reported the attempted attack to them and that the congressman was fine. They also reported that they believe that the attack on the congressman’s aircraft was in retaliation for the deaths of the Somali pirates holding Captain Phillips and his rescue.
Since it is clear that we will be withdrawing US combat forces from Iraq at a steady rate pretty soon I think some of those assets should be brought to bear on those that would threaten our shipping interests and the personnel engaging in sea-going commerce under a US Flag. I really hope for our sake that President Obama passes this test with flying colors. I also hope that he sends them the message that our colors don’t run, never have and never will.
That’s it for today my friends I will be back tomorrow and hopefully earlier than this. Have a good evening and CIAO4NOW!!!!!
If you've been following the news at all lately, you're aware of the big spending "stimulus" package that has made its' way through both houses. Passed by the House, and then today passed by the Senate, it's a bill that is full of "pork" and most of it offers very little when it comes to a solution to the economic problems that we are dealing with.
President Obama spent months spouting off his cliché's about "change you can believe in." I have news for you - this is NOT change that we can believe in. It is simply a debt that we can count on paying for years, that our children can count on paying, and even that our grandchildren can count on paying. Sadly, though we will pay, we will not reap great benefits from it at all.
Well, recently I received an email from American Solutions, that provided 12 solutions that will really work to stimulate our economy, instead of the big government, sorry excuse of a bill, that has just gone through congress. Instead of bringing more debt, these solutions will help create more jobs, and will also reward those that save, invest, and work hard. Here's a look at the 12-step program.
1. " Payroll Tax Stimulus. With a temporary new tax credit to offset 50% of the payroll tax, every small business would have more money, and all Americans would take home more of what they earn.
2. Real Middle-Income Tax Relief. Reduce the marginal tax rate of 25% down to 15%, in effect establishing a flat-rate tax of 15% for close to 9 out of 10 American workers.
3. Reduce the Business Tax Rate. Match Ireland’s rate of 12.5% to keep more jobs in America.
4. Homeowner’s Assistance. Provide tax credit incentives to responsible home buyers so they can keep their homes.
5. Control Spending So We Can Move to a Balanced Budget. This begins with eliminating Congressional earmarks and wasteful pork-barrel spending.
6. No State Aid Without Protection From Fraud. Require state governments to adopt anti-fraud and anti-theft policies before giving them more money.
7. More American Energy Now. Explore for more American oil and gas and invest in affordable energy for the future, including clean coal, ethanol, nuclear power and renewable fuels.
8. Abolish Taxes on Capital Gains. Match China, Singapore and many other competitors. More investment in America means more jobs in America.
9. Protect Our Right to Vote in the Workplace. We must protect a worker’s right to decide by secret ballot whether to join a union.
10. Replace Sarbanes-Oxley. This failed law is crippling entrepreneurial startups. Replace it with affordable rules that help create jobs, not destroy them.
11. Abolish the Death Tax. Americans should work for their families, not for Washington.
12. Invest in Energy and Transportation Infrastructure. This includes a new, expanded electric power grid and a 21st century air traffic control system that will reduce delays in air travel and save passengers, employees and airlines billions of dollars per year."
I for one, think this is an excellent plant. It makes sense, and actually does something for the American people, other than spending millions on STDs, getting rid of fish barriers, and fixing park trails for ATVs.
