You know I have been doing a lot of thinking about how big Hollywood stars and the entertainment industry attempt to shape the direction of our nation in all aspects. They try to influence everyone into seeing things their way on everything from ecology, energy, and economy to healthcare and defense. Now-a-days they seem to support every wacko activist group that come down the pike to.

However I have to wonder how some of these actors of today would stack up to the ones I grew up with. I mean sure some the entertainers we watch today are very good at their work and with the technology that Hollywood has at its disposal they can make these folks look even better than they are, but what exactly do these performers do for our nation other than entertain us.

Let’s take a look at the actors and entertainers I grew up with and see what they have done for our great nation then we will compare them to the crop of today’s performers and see how they measure up okay what do you say? I don’t know about you but I am a little bit curious now.

In researching this blog I found fifteen star actors from my childhood that I am very sure will prove themselves to be US Patriots in every sense of the word. After this we will compare them to fifteen of todays star actors and see how well the new guys measure up. Are ya ready to see because I am?

1) Jimmy Stewart served as a bomber pilot in the US Air Force during World War II and ultimately retired a Brigadier General after his service in the reserves post WW II
2) Clark Gable served as a Major in the US Air Force during WW II aboard B-17 bombers.
3) Charlton Heston served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II
4) Charles Bronson served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II
5) Eddie Albert served in the US Navy during WW II and won the Bronze Star for aiding Marines on the island of Tarawa in November of 1943
6) Ernest Borgnine served in the US Navy as a Gunners Mate during WW II
7) James Doohan served in the US Army and was at Normandy on D-Day
8) Charles Durning served with the US Army Rangers at Normandy where he won the Silver Star and a Purple Heart
9) George C, Scott served in the US Marine Corps during WW II
10) Brian Keith served in the US Marine Corps during WW II as a tailgunner
11) Lee Marvin served in the US Marine Corps during WW II
12) John Russel served in the US Marine Corps during WW II where he received a battlefield commission while on Guadalcanal
13) Robert Ryan served in the US Marine Corps during WW II with the O.S.S. in Yugoslavia
14) Tyrone Powers served in the US Marine Corps during WW II as a pilot in the South Pacific more specifically during the Iwo Jima and Okinawa campaigns
15) Audie Murphy served in the US Army during WW II enlisting as a Private but by the time he left the Army he had received a battlefield commission and went on to become the most decorated serviceman of WW II receiving the Medal of Honor and the Distinguished Service Cross however his other commendations are to numerous to list here

Now let’s take a look at todays star actors and what they have done in the service of their nation.

1) Colin Farrell served no where
2) Jamie Foxx served no where
3) Samuel L, Jackson served no where
4) Denzel Washington served no where
5) Kiefer Sutherland served no where
6) Alec Baldwin served no where
7) Martin Sheen served no where
8) Charles Sheen served no where
9) Emilio Estevez served no where
10) Lou Diamond Phillips served no where
11) Hugh Laurie served no where
12) Anthony LaPaglia served no where
13) David Caruso served no where
14) Russel Crowe served no where
15) Clive Owen served no where

I see a very big difference between the stars that made Hollywood great and the stars that make up Hollywood now. While todays stars may be very good at playing cops, soldiers, doctors, or fire fighters it appears that when they are compared to the stars of just 20 or 30 years ago that while they new guys played the parts the old guard lived the parts.

All you seem to hear from these FNGs is how lousy the US is today. They say we are responsible for everything from Global Warming to the unrest of nations everywhere from Africa to the Middle East. Some of these same people that we enjoy on TV or in the movies have even gone so far as to say they hate the United States and if that is the case then why are they here. I say to them all don’t let the door hit you where the good lord split you.

I think the actors I grew up with would be very ashamed of what Hollywood and its representatives have turned Hollywood into and the way these adult adolescent crybaby spoiled brats say about this nation, These FNG’s would not have the good life like they have here anywhere else. I am sure none of the guys I grew up watching would ever utter such hateful things after all they are the ones that paid in blood and sometimes with their lives in order to find their successes.

That’s my rant for today and I hope you all enjoy it. I will be back again tomorrow have a wonderful day CIAO4NOW!!!!!

I have to agree with you that todays crop of self important whiners who make a living as actors will never be able to stand up against and equal the men you mentioned who have come before them. I always loved Audie Murphy by the way.

Hat's off to the REAL heroes. Sadly today many youth have grown up to respect and idolize mere performers. Sure, they have their place, but our children need to see what real heroes are all about.

This is a great post. Glad someone is taking the time to respect the people who really deserve it!
