Today in Simple Man Politics we are going to discuss “The Future of Journalism”, which is unsurprisingly the title of the Senator John Kerry (D) commerce subcommittee hearing held this very day. Make no mistake my friends the future of journalism is definitely an issue both politically and economically. This hearings subtopic was about the survival of the newspaper industry, which is becoming an endangered species.
For me personally I have a lot of great memories of sitting down at my dining room table to have my first cup of morning coffee, my first morning cigarette and my newspaper. It was a ritual for me as I’m sure it was for most of you a ritual to read the morning paper. I liked to read the front page, the sports page, and the most important page of all the comics.
To be honest though that tradition is the past and the industry helped to put itself there by not thinking ahead to their future and their appetite for the almighty dollar. Along the way the newspaper industry also ceased to be about keeping the public truthfully informed by keeping an eye on those in power for us.
Another unfortunate condition that may be contributing to heir demise is the political agenda and bias that most publications present nowadays. These are the things that the newspaper industry is responsible for doing to themselves.
There are other contributing factors to the failing health of the newspaper industry as well. First there is the 24 hour news cycle created by cable news outlets like Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC. Another dangerous news outlet to the health of the newspaper is the internet, where you can find out anything you want on any subject with the typing of a keyword in a Google search and a click of the mouse on the search button.
One of the things that the committee discussed was the quality of good journalism, which some contributed to the newspaper industry. It seems to me however that in light of the newspaper industry and its assured demise that a lack of quality journalism might have helped to contribute to their loss of readership and shrinking subscriptions.
The newspapers argue that it is the internet and cable TV that are doing them in and I agree, because there is quality journalism in both outlets and I am living proof of that. Most of the good unbiased journalists who have written for the newspaper industry in the past now use the internet as a forum to get the word out. Alas though just like the newspaper industry bias has found its way into the cable and internet as well.
Another subject that this committee hearing addressed was how to keep the newspaper industry afloat financially. There was discussion of giving the industry tax exempt status. Another topic was charging for online content. The only phrase that was not uttered today was bailout but I am sure that that topic won’t be too far behind in future hearings particularly since we are bailing everybody else out.

Hello ya’ll and welcome to the Tuesday installment of Simple Man Politics. As a rule I normally write about political policy issues or politicians. However today I’m going to do something different, something out there on the edge, I’m going to push the envelope, and you guys know what I mean. Todays targets are some in the media or supposed comedians and all of them think they are smarter than us.
Bill Maher:
Bill Maher is my first target for today and deservedly so. Bill Maher is a man who is known for his often vicious political satire and as such he often savages any political topic or figure particularly if it is against the politically conservative side. Since Barack Obama has been elected into office we have not heard even one derisive comment about the President while he attempted to commit wholesale character assassination on former President George W, Bush.
This comes as no surprise to me though considering his known political affiliations. The two most notable of these affiliations being PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) where he sits on the board, and The Reason Project where he serves as an advisory board member. Bill Maher is a vocal supporter of gay marriage and an out spoken critic of religion.
Janeane Garofalo:
What can I say about this woman that could possibly put her in a good light? The obvious answer is not a damn thing unfortunately. There was a time when I really liked her comedy she was a great stand up comedian. In recent years she has become politically active way to the left, which now makes her a target of those who are conservatives or are on the right. Janeane Garofalo and Bill Maher have a lot in common the only difference being is that Maher is vicious and Garafalo is just stupid. Janeane Garofalo is a known left wing political activist and former co host with The Weenie Al Franken of Air America Radios failed radio talk show The Majority Report.
This darling of the entertainment industry is a devout atheist and has participated in a radio interview held by Free Thought Radio, which is run by the Freedom from Religion Foundation. She has participated in the Code Pink anti war march in Washington D.C. Her latest foray into political commentary led her to group all the Tea Party protesters as racists against Obama. I find this to be odd considering there were a good many protesters who were Democrats as well. As for Garafalo I think this dimwit would be hard pressed to explain the original Boston Tea Party.
Drive by Media:
This blog would not be complete without giving the Drive by Media, CNN, and MSNBC its due attention. The liberal left wing bias of the Drive by Media and those within CNN and MSNBC has been incredibly obvious especially over the eight years that George W, Bush sat in the Oval Office and right through the last national election that put Barack Obama in the same office.
You could see it in the eyes of the news anchors at CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, and MSNBC they could smell McCain’s blood and were salivating at the chance to get their share of the conservative carcass. Commentators like Chris Matthews, Ken Olberman, and Dan Rather were having orgasms on the air in anticipation of ultimately electing Barack Obama as the next US president.
You know after having read, watched, and listened to most of those people out there that are supporters of Barack Obama I have learned a couple of things that I wasn’t really ready to believe. I learned that most of them were themselves racists against their own race. I learned that those we trust to bring us unbiased political news were not reporting that news they were trying to create the news as they saw it. I learned that none of these people were really any smarter than us.
I also learned that the one common thread that linked all of these people was hate. They hate anyone who does not believe as they do and they want to threaten and intimidate their opposition into silence. Basically they hate the American dream and do not believe that it belongs to anyone who dares question them. Their belief is that they and they alone are the chosen keepers of the American dream.

I’m here to tell ya Thank God its Friday. I am going to take the weekend off from politics and just kick it on the home front. I am so tired of having nothing better to do than disproving the far lefts continual lying on every subject they open their hate filled ignorant mouths about.
I’m just going to run down a short list of some of these lies and deceits that they are becoming famous for, and politicians aren’t the only ones I’m going to mention here today the liberal drive by media gets a spot in this blog today too.
Obama is first on the list, but there are so many things he has lied about that I don’t know where to begin. I know a lie he just retold after the theory was thoroughly debunked and that is the lie that most weapons being used in the drug war in Mexico are from the US. The ATF just proved that to be wrong and Obama goes down to Mexico and tells it again.
I hate this one to it says that the EPA is going to take steps to regulate climate change. Climate change and Global Warming is the greatest lie of the 20th and 21st centuries. The climate is changing all the time, whether it is warming or cooling. These things always come in cycles it has been proven so what are you going to do regulate Mother Nature.
Here is one of my favorite targets the great liar Janet Napolitano who is the former Governor of the state of Arizona and now heads up the HDS. She had the unmitigated gall to actually release an “Intelligence Assessment” that says our returning veterans are potential terrorists ripe for recruitment by radical right wing extremists groups. Activists on the left are far more violent and terrorist like than those who just took part in the Tax Day Tea Parties.
Eric Holder the new AG of the US went to West Point Military Academy and promptly attacked former President George W, Bush in a speech. The problem was that the speech was filled with lies that had already been disproven and not only by those on the right, but those on the left as well.
I hate the liberal left media and their bias towards the conservative movement. The Tax Day Tea Parties were a success, there was no violence and only one arrest and that was not related to these protests. Yet media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, NBC and so on attempted to portray those attending the parties as nothing more than radical activists who cling to their god and their guns and would you believe even their constitutional rights, but that is true.
Former NYPD Chief Bernard Keric actually was surprised that this was the first protest that he had ever seen where people brought their families. He and many others who have experience in dealing with protests that these Tea Parties were the perfect example of what peaceful protests should look like.
The last person I am going to take a shot at today is our very own Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. This is the woman who travels the world denouncing our nation as at fault for everything bad that has ever happened. She along with Obama actually is encouraged by the overtures they have received from other socialist and communist nations. The Obama administration actually feels that our citizens are more of a danger to the country than dictators like Castro, Ahmadinejad, and Kim Jong Il. They have apparently forgotten the histories of these despots.
