Hello my friends and welcome to the Hump Day post for Simple Man Politics and since it is Hump Day today we are going to talk about public figures who get humped over political comments they have made or for being politicians themselves. Unfortunately this will happen to someone when they enter the court of public opinion and make a comment that is either not popular or hotly contested.

Usually the ignominious honor of getting humped publicly is reserved for politicians who in my view are substandard intellectually and ideologically and usually deserve it anyway. However on occasion other public figures have been bestowed with this honor as well. Unfortunately when one enters the public political arena of ideas with their own opinion they can usually expect a smack down particularly if their argument or idea is not very well thought out or lacks an intelligent theory.

As far as that goes well I have some bad news for all of you thinking about attempting this often ill-fated and demoralizing venture of public political discourse and that is that once you do this you are not only fair game for honest, intelligent, and motivated political journalists like myself, but you are also open to attacks from every on the fringe kook, idiot, and loon in the media or with a public forum with an ax to grind whose point of view opposes yours.

These media rapes happen everyday and they are everywhere all you have to do is turn on the cable news channels, talk radio, or the internet and it is all right there. Currently today I have seen the supposed Limbaugh/Sykes feud discussed yet again for the hundredth time, and the same with the supposed Cheney/Limbaugh/Powell feud also. Other people who have recently been savaged in the press are Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and Barack Obama. However these are political figures that are used to being in this type of shark infested territory and in my opinion have deserved it.

Of course political innocents are often sacrificed at the altars of the public humping gods on a regular basis as well as some not so innocent political activists. One of the new innocents that the kooks attempted to ravage publicly is the new Miss California Carrie Prejean. Apparently her traditional view on marriage was not very popular with some numbnuts by the name of Perez Hilton so he personally attacked her in his blog and then he and some of his rainbow butt buddies attacked her using news media outlets.

Fortunately for Miss Prejean Donald Trump who owns the Miss USA Pageant makes his own decisions and kept her in her position as Miss California. Donald Trump even went so far as to say that the views on marriage that Miss Prejean espoused were the very same views expressed by our current President. I guess if these views are good enough for our Commander in Grief then they are good enough for the Donald as well.

Another figure who continues to enter the arena of public opinion and usually deserves the media humping she eventually receives is none other than the dog faced Janine Garofalo with her DOCTORATE in DUMBASS. Her latest personal revelation is that everyone who either opposed Obama in the national election or who opposes Obamas policies are obviously all racists. Now while I will concede that at some point race did enter into the picture particularly since Obama was the first person to bring up race during his 04 election campaign it is patently absurd to say that all who oppose him are racists.

Now I will admit that I will often use this blog as well as other forums that I read and write in to attack public figures and politicians in particular and more often than not they appear to be more and more on the left politically. However I do not nor will I ever attack anyone on either the left or the right that does not step into the middle of the political arena and throw down the gauntlet.

I will also tell you that I myself have also been attacked for my views, beliefs, and truths that I have expressed here and elsewhere. When I have been right I have fought back even harder and dirtier than when the fight started and when I have been wrong I have apologized and have eaten crow. Fortunately I am seldom if ever wrong, but there is one thing I know going in and that is that I have thrown my hat into this political coliseum and had my say and they have the right to challenge me.

The best advice that I can give anyone who is considering doing this type of writing and reporting is to think about what I have said here today. But if you consider all of these things I have said and still decide to go ahead with getting into the middle of the political arena and throwing down the challenge then expect me and others like me to take up the standard and go right after you if I or we believe that you are on the wrong side.

I hope you all have a wonderful Hump Day and I will be back again tomorrow CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Defend America.....

Oh my God what else are they going to do to weaken our nation and its security? These idiots that were so blindly voted into office under the cover of change, nominated to positions of power under the banner of change, and appointed to positions of power under the mantle of change all have one thing in common they don’t know how to defend a nation let alone run one.

All they seem to want to do is to weaken our nation even further making us an easier target for attack sooner rather than never. The inside attacks against us run the gamut from the oval office and congress to the justice department and homeland security.

I can see our enemies readying themselves at our borders to attack and salivating at the possibility of sinking their teeth into the great bastion of democracy known as the United States and killing it. The thing that amazes me is that they have as allies our own government who are doing all that they can to assist them.

Obama is looking at ways to cut defense spending in order to pay for nationalized healthcare, education, and other social programs he supports. He just won an important battle in that arena by stopping the F-22 program, which would definitely make is the ultimate power in air superiority as well as employ 90,000 + people, now the project and the jobs are gone.

Eric Holder the US Attorney General is now investigating the possibility of prosecuting AG lawyers and those who had knowledge of enhanced interrogation techniques during the Bush administration. Obama had promised no prosecutions of these people would be pursued, which was of course a lie.

This is happening again all thanks to our President who released memos stating that these attorneys found the use of these techniques legal. This does not count the damage done from releasing these memos, which now gives our enemies a look at our game plan for extracting important information from uncooperative terrorists.

Obama is also going to close the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility and attempt to bring these enemy combatants and terrorists to the continental United States. Further more he is going to have them tried in the US Federal Criminal Court System instead of by military tribunal.

All of this is dangerous to our citizenry because not only will they be within or national borders, but they will have Habeas Corpus rights and Geneva Convention protection when they are not even eligible for that protection because they are not members of a nationally recognized uniformed military.

Then there is of course our very own inept Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano. She has absolutely no idea how to even defend our borders or where exactly the dangers on our borders really are.

She is so stupid that she actually compared the US/Canadian border with the US/Mexican border stating that we needed to defend our northern border even more aggressively because that is where the 9/11 highjacker’s came into the US. That has been proven to be false by the way and it was established that the 9/11 terrorists all entered the US directly from over seas.

Further more she stated that our multi billion dollar southern border barrier that stretches from California to Texas could halt the cross border drugs and violence that is spilling over into our country from Mexico. What damn border barrier is she talking about, because we haven’t even built one quarter of it yet?

At this point I am trying to decide whether or not to brush up on my Spanish, or learn Farsi, or perhaps just do both. One thing appears almost certain to me if we manage to survive four years of an Obama administration and Democrat control of both houses of congress.

Once there is a conservative majority back in control of both of those branches of government it will take at least a generation of our citizens to recover from the damage that will be inflicted upon us. However I hope that the mid term elections partially rectify some of this problem including the deposing of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reed, Barney Frank, and Chris Dodd.

That is all I have to rant about for today my friends, but I will be back again tomorrow, have an awesome day and CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Hmmmm lets see, how should I start today. First let me say that I am sorry for not doing a blog post on Friday, but I have to pay the bills before I can spread the truth here. Another reason is that Joy who has written for me here before had somewhat of a personal crisis to deal with and required my support.

You see Joy grew up with the Mayhle’s. Stephen Mayhle is one of the Pittsburgh police officers who were brutally gunned down last Friday in the Stanton Heights section of the city, while responding to a domestic disturbance call in the early hours of the morning.

However now it is time for some more Simple Man Politics. Today we are going to talk a little about Obama’s trip to the G20 summit and NATO meetings. To say the least I found his trip to be highly anti-climactic to say the least. It appears that our super star President was not as well received as he would have liked.

First off with regard to his attendance of the G20 summit I found him to be remarkably apologetic about the United States being responsible for the current global economic crisis that has affected the world markets. However he was right that we own some of the responsibility, but he was wrong about who exactly was responsible.

Obama claimed that he inherited this bad economy from his predecessor George W, Bush’s administration and that is true. What he fails to tell anyone is that while it occurred during the Bush administration it is in fact a legacy he inherited from his own party who controlled both houses of congress.

The two men most responsible for the economic meltdown are Senator Chris Dodd and Representative Barney Frank. These two men were responsible for overseeing our financial institutions including Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae. When they were told by several different people that these two companies were in trouble they loudly denounced those who warned them and said that Freddy and Fanny were fine.

Of course Obama also laid the growing deficit at George Bush’s feet as well while conveniently forgetting the fact that with his second bailout, stimulus bill, and budget he plans on growing our national debt to over 4.7 Trillion Dollars this year with a Trillion Dollars added every year for the next ten years. He is accomplishing this with the aid of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid the senate and house leaders.

My favorite part of Obama’s trip had to be his stop in Turkey though. I will admit that this nation is an important ally to the US in the WAR ON TERROR. We use their bases for resupply operations as well as a way into and out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

What I don’t understand is his statement to the Turkish people that we are not at war with Islam. I would think that it is obvious that we are not at war with Islam. However we are at war with Islamo-Fascism. Islamo-Fascism is the ideology that is spouted out from groups like Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad.

I was also not surprised at the reception that Obama has received in some of the countries that he visited. While most of the European socialist governments love him it is quite clear that a lot of the people do not. Of course the governments there love him, because he wants the same sort of government that hasn’t worked for them in the last century. The ordinary people seemed to know that he was a B.S. artist almost instinctively.

I have one more thing to say before I go today, and that is on the subject of Nuclear disarmament. Obama clearly believes in total nuclear disarmament, but does he really think that he can get these rogue countries that are pursuing this technology to put it down once they get these weapons. I doubt that Iran or North Korea would be willing to do so.

The world’s deterrence to a nuclear war is the fact that we possess nukes, and the deterrence in the Middle East is the fact that Israel possesses nukes. Unfortunately that is why nations like Iran are pursuing nuclear weapons programs so that they can attack Israel.

The truth of the matter is that whether we like it or not Obama is our President for the next four years. It is unfortunate for us however that he is against his own country and all for being popular in the world before being safe. This is true both economically and strategically. I only hope that our enemies are not any emboldened to attack us now than they were before his overseas trip.

Have an awesome day my friends and I will be back again real soon, although it may not be before Wednesday, but you never know, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Welcome to all of you to the Simple Man Politics T.G.I.F. post, and I’m going to try to make this one short and sweet…..hopefully so bear with me please.

Today I want to talk about the bailout, the companies bailed out, and who exactly is responsible. This really is not all that complicated an issue, you just have to look at who was and currently is responsible for keeping an eye on the banks and lending institutions where the problems started and the answer as to who is responsible is right in front of our faces every day.

We all know that this whole mess started with the housing market tumbling into the crapper. Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae getting involved in the sub-prime mortgage business and being forced to make those loans to people who could not afford to pay the mortgages they were given. Of course there was plenty of warning that these two governmentally created and sponsored companies were in trouble but those responsible just blew it off and said there was no trouble there.

When Freddy and Fanny fell that of course caused a domino effect that ran the financial markets, banks, and mortgage industry that was almost so catastrophic that recovery appeared all but impossible. Investment companies like Lehman Brothers and banks such as Citigroup and Bank of America found themselves with virtually no cash or assets to finance their businesses because of their involvement in the sub-prime crisis as well.

The people who are responsible for this mess are at the heart of the problem still and in charge of these companies even as we attempt to prop up these companies along with the big three auto makers who have found themselves incapable of selling their cars due to a frozen credit market. Of course there is also AIG who just can’t seem to get their act together and are constantly tripping themselves in the public eye.

While you can point the finger at both houses of congress and the Democrats in particular there are only two people who were responsible for keeping Freddy and Fannie on the straight and narrow. However they had no interest in doing so because they profited the most from campaign contributions and the like from those two failed entities. I am talking about Chris Dodd and Barney Frank.

Senator Chris Dodd (D) did then and currently still chairs the Senate Banking Committee in the upper house. Representative Barney Frank (D) during this whole fiasco chaired the House Financial Services Committee and is still in that position. These two crooks profited from hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions to their campaign coffers from Fanny and Freddy.

These two criminals were also instrumental in forcing Fanny and Freddy along with other banks to make bad loans to people who couldn’t afford to pay those loans back even though these corporations didn’t want to do business that way. All of this under the guise of the Community Reinvestment Act although all it really was about was the greed of these two, organizations like ACORN, and their sleazy cohorts that ran some of these businesses.

So the next time you see the liberal media sounding off in mock indignation about who is responsible just remember Dodd and Frank. I’m sure that the Obama administration and Turbo tax Tim Geitner may be responsible for some things now, but Dodd and Frank were responsible then and they still are now. These two should at least be investigated and at the most be stripped of their chairmanships and prosecuted.

Well so much for short and sweet. I will be back next week and I hope you all have a fantastic weekend CIAO4NOW!!!!!

As you all know the economy is in the forefront of the political news again today. I’m sure that this comes as no surprise considering it has been there since before the November 4th national election that saw Barack Obama catapulted into the White House. It was actually the economic crisis that helped to secure the oval office for the new President who ran on a platform of change, transparency, and a new style of governance for the American people.

Of course what we have actually seen from party in power both on the hill and at 1600 W. Pennsylvania Ave is definitely a new style of governing. We have seen an administration riddled with scandal over cabinet appointees and nominees who have done everything from cheat on their taxes, to awarding state contracts on the basis of contributions to their campaigns. Not to mention some who outright admit to being socialists with socialist agendas.

We have also seen the biggest increase in spending programs ever by a President in his first 100 days in office. We have seen monster bailouts of our banking institutions with a thinly veiled attempt at the nationalization of those institutions. We have also started bailing out the big three that make up the Detroit auto industry. We are also bailing out insurance companies, mortgage companies, and credit card companies.

We are even going to bailout homeowners who are facing foreclosures on their homes. The latter group often times being responsible for going into foreclosure simply because they were not responsible enough to pay their own bills and while we are at it we are going to pay off their credit card and auto loan debt to.

In addition to all of that we just got a 800 Billion Dollar stimulus bill loaded with pork and projects that wont even be ready before 2010 that passed both houses of congress and was signed into law by the President without ever having even been read by a single congressperson, or senator, and probably not even a White House official.

Congress is now waiting in the wings with another 400+ Billion Dollar bill and we aren’t even through the first 100 days of a new presidency or even the first year. As if that isn’t enough of our tax money being spent before it is even made Obama has pledged 900 Million Dollars to rebuild Palestine as if we can actually afford it.

With all of that going on as well as his own party working against him and having no support amongst Republicans on the hill in a gesture of good will Obama now points the finger at former President Bush and blames him for all of our economic woes, because he was President and initiated the first bailout mistake, which Democrats wanted to make anyway.

All of which flies in the face of the truth that the economic problem started with Freddy and Fanny who were forced by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd who chair the committees that regulate them to make bad loans. Not to mention the fact that McCain as well as a few other conservatives warned that Freddy and Fannie were in trouble, and were told by Frank and Dodd that all was well and no need to worry.

One thing is for sure in my view and that is that it’s definitely going to get worse for all of us before it gets better. I for one can’t wait to see the spin that our glorious leader the great Barack Obama puts on all of this in his historic economic summit speech tonight. I am sure it promises to be full of doom and woe if he doesn’t get what he wants.

I am also very sure that the continued negative reaction by Wall Street as well as the continued negative reactions by the American people to this glut of spending and lack of real economic stimulus will fall on the deaf ears of Obama and company who will only blame someone else for their mistakes because of it when they fail.

My friends that is all I have to rant about today, but I am sure I will find something else to rail against very soon. Have the best day possible, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Follow The Leader

Today I am going to write about something a little different than what I normally write about which as you all know is US politics. Today I'm going to write a little bit about politics and economies around the world in relation to the current economic crisis here at home.

As we all know the economy here in the US has taken a severe downward turn in the last couple of weeks and it has been at it's worst since the bailout bill was signed into law. This has prompted several governments to follow suit with their own versions of a bailout for their financial institutions. This just proves that America is the world leader once again because what happens here really does effect everyone around the world and if we don't fix this economic problem now that we have jumped in with both feet and committed taxpayer dollars to it we might possibly be facing a global recession.

In the UK they have instituted an 87 billion dollar bailout for banks. Prime Minister Gordon Brown stated that the problem started in the US with irresponsible lending practices and has plunged the global financial markets to a point where it has ceased to function. PM Brown went on to say that the bailout in the UK could possibly exceed the 700 billion dollar bailout here in the US.

In Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel made a move to guarantee bank deposits in her country and while she was originally against a EU bailout plan put forth in Luxembourg she has since reversed her position and is open to the idea. Italian PM Berlusconi said that the reason she originally didn't support the joint EU rescue plan/fund was because she didn't have the power to do so.

French President Sarkozy is reportedly in favor of the EU bailout fund which is modeled after the 700 billion dollar US bailout plan. France along with Ireland is already showing negative growth as evidenced in their markets.

Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi says his government favors a UK style bailout for its financial institutions and a revival of the discussion and possible passage of an EU wide bailout fund to shore up banks and lending institutions in the EU as well as to guarantee bank deposits held by its citizenry. He points out that in the case of Italy's financial market they are not as exposed to the current credit crisis as the US and UK are.

The Spanish PM Zapatero stated that the international community understood and supported the US financial bailout plan and hoped it would restore confidence in the market. Zapatero went on to say that with strict regulations in reserve and investment the Spanish economy has zero exposure to sub prime related assets and that its financial market is very solid and is resisting the market crisis.

We have also seen adverse conditions in the market in Russia and in the Asian markets to in some cases down as much as nine percent of volume. Russia suspended trading in its market because of their financial institutions being in free fall. Iceland has even asked Russia for 5 plus billion dollars to help bailout their banks.

While it is true that all of these problems around the world with the global financial markets is a direct result of the sub prime lending problems and the credit crunch I can't help but wonder who exactly is going to be held responsible for all of it here at home. While it is true that there was an incredible amount of corruption and thievery amongst corporate CEO's and top ranking executives under them they are not entirely responsible.

There are organizations like Acorn who are responsible for forcing banks to make loans to high risk borrowers that they would not otherwise provide loans to if their ability to grow, merge, and invest was not directly threatened by such organizations with the use of CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) complaints.

There are also some politicians who are responsible for the damage done to our financial market as well for the problems we now face both here and around the world. The two most notable figures are Congressman Barney Frank who chairs the The House Financial Services Committee and Senator Chris Dodd chairman of the Senate Banking Committee. These two men are responsible for regulating and enforcing the regulations that guide our financial institutions. Instead they looked the other way and allowed the damage to our financial market after the were warned three years ago. Why, because they benefited from contributions made to them by some of those organizations and financial institutions and didn't want to see their cash cows go away. The current Democrat Presidential Nominee may even be partially responsible for his early work as both a community organizer, leadership trainer, and attorney for Acorn but that remains to be seen.

All I can say to all my friends both here and around the world is that I am profoundly sorry that in our ignorance we both allowed these figures to stay in their positions of power and turned a blind eye when we knew this day would come. Now everyone is going to have to pay a steep price for our arrogance and transparent naivete that the people we trusted to protect us have failed.

I hope you all have learned something from this post today and that you have enjoyed reading it. I also hope it has made you mad enough to go out and demand that those responsible be held accountable and pay for it. I have to go for now but I will see you all on Monday have a super weekend and enjoy the holiday, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

P.S. I have decided to make Fridays topic open to my readers. If there is something related to politics that you would like me to write about let me know. Whatever I get the most request for I will write about on Fridays and I will let you know Fridays topic on Thursday.

Well here it is Tuesday already and we find that congress still doesn’t have the bill for the bailout of Freddy Mac, Fanny Mae, or AIG passed, but I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise. The President gets the bosses of the Fed and Treasury Hank Paulson and Ben Bernanke together at the White House to find out how to repair this current economic crisis and these guys work all weekend to get the work done and present it to Congress on Monday and the geniuses in control of both houses hold it up because they are not satisfied.

The reason that these politicians claim they are not satisfied is because they want more oversight, tighter regulation, and salary caps for the execs that are going to run things. What they are not telling you and I the American taxpayer is that they also want to load it up with a lot of pork (earmarks).

They want to put in things like a stimulus package and help for homeowners who are about to lose their homes. These are the same people who got outrageous home loans that they never could have paid back in the first place because they were low income high risk candidates for credit. Of course we the taxpayers will have to foot the bill to let them stay in a home they still can’t afford even after they get refinanced or what ever. This is just one example.

Then of course you have the respective candidates out stumping yesterday and running their mouths about what they would do about this particular problem. You have John McCain telling everyone he has a plan to deal with this crisis which he has gone to great lengths to discuss. Of course he also holds Barack Obama and the Democratic Party responsible for this mess we are in.

However I am not going to tell you he is wrong about the Democrats because three years ago he announced that this could and would happen with Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac and he introduced legislation to regulate and oversee these run away train wrecks waiting to happen and the Democrats shot the bill down. At the time Barack Obama wasn’t even in the US Senate so he had nothing to do with it. You can blame it on Senators Chris Dodd and Barney Frank though; it is their committees that allowed this to happen.

Then there is the anointed one, Barack Obama, telling everyone that John McCain has been in Washington for ever and has not even tried to do anything about this, which is a total falsehood. On top of which this guy doesn’t even have a plan in place to deal with the problem at hand although he has said that he spoke to Secretary of the Treasury Paulson and he is waiting to see what will happen. In the mean time he has as his financial advisors, two people who made tens of millions of dollars while working at Fanny Mae while all of those shenanigans were going on, and those two men are Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson. I think Obama should ask them to give back all the money they got while driving that federally created corporation into the ground…..yeah right!!!!!

As for the candidates plans or lack of plans to deal with this financial problem they don’t matter anyway because neither one of them is in the White House or in any kind of position to do anything about it anyway other than vote for or against the bill when it comes to the Senate floor for a vote. What congress ought to do is leave the bill as presented to them by Secretary Hank Paulson alone and just pass the damn thing, then get out of the way. As for oversight, I believe that Paulson is more than capable of appointing an oversight board that will actually be there to oversee these companies being bailed out.

That’s all for now I hope you all have found this post informative. It is all true but I urge you to research the subject yourself and decide what you believe. Have a great day, CIAO4NOW!!!!!

P.S. To Nancy Pelosi.....Yes the democrats are responsible for this problem because you created the monsters that fell!!!!!
